  • Oh SQ we love you honeybunch!!!!! Families are difficult aminals, and sometimes (I know the feeling well) one member just doesn't fit. It's hard and hurtful and a complete mystery as to why you're different almost like being born into the wrong group but you're entitled to be you, or me, (warts and all) and be your own person with your own views, likes, dislikes and characteristics and no one can ask you not to be. You don't need thier approval or permission to live life as you see fit and it's not fair of anyone to expect you to change to fit thier specifications. You've some good friends lovey and you're a good little wife and mum and that makes you richer than Midas and it's your familys' loss by estranging you and yours. Make your own way and be who you are, you'll be lots happier in the long run. We're here for you, always, and we like you just the way you are. Chin up you're alright, Love and Hugs Lyn xxx.

Lyn nit or not 12 litres isn't enough water for family of 4 so thanks for getting your sums wrong enough to shock me into action! :P

Nope, don't think I have seen a maybug and looking at their pic I don't think I eat to! The children people are envious that I saw a snake so I hold a little cred there ;)

Families? It's took me a while (and a lot of hurt not to mention space) to realise that we must look after ourselves. I ended it all with my sister weeks ago and just now is the beginnings of her trying to patch things up (stated with a text and a fb friend request Sunday... no emotion there then) but I am wholly not bothered if I never speak or see her again and I am content with those feelings. I will make smiles and happiness if the occasion came to it but other than that - nope, I get on with my life, the way I want with the ones who want to be around me. I hope your are ok sq. sisters seem to hold the key to a whole lot of negative emotion but I think we are in control essentially ;)

Grrrrrr at summer school uniforms and the need for white socks!! I was on a 30 for 28 minutes (extra 12 min spin if needs tumbling) but to keep those socks white I have to use pre wash, OXY stuff for stains and a longer 40 cycle. Double grrrrrrr.

Even with the rain I refuse to use to tumble dryto claw back some costs. Out the airer comes. It's muggy enough indoors to dry I am sure.

I have heard that we are in for some serious storms in the coming days. It really does make me want to prep so tonight I am wanting to reacquaint myself with prepping thread and (if anyone dare resurrect it in the spring!) the prep for winter thread. This house hasn't been tested for minus degrees as the winter was so mild but it did stand up to those difficulties with no heating so I am convinced it will be fine. Our direct debit is set at £74 a month (we are electric only) so hoping to accumulate some for the winter months. Sock washes are not helping! Any ideas if soaking them would help? What would you soak in?

Can you still buy Biotex?, that's what I used to soak my daughters white socks in.

    Stopped smoking 20:30 28/09/11 :D
  • FUDDLE you're a girlie with your head on right and your feet on the ground, you're OK too!!! The water storage is something I've always done just in case we get cut off like we did in the summer of 76 when there was a really deep drought. It's like everything else in life, not to be taken for granted. The Preparing for Winter Thread has been ressurected a few weeks ago but has dropped down the pages a bit still, you can't start too early can you and I am guilty of finding my first Christmas Present for DD1 today in a charity shop, I know I'M SAD!!!

I had such a bit of luck this afternoon, I was taking the houndicus for his walkies and just up the road was a skip in a front garden with a few bits of furniture in it and a bookcase in front of it and on the bookcase was propped a still good adjustable fireguard (like those mothercare ones that come with lots of different panels to fit any size hearth) so I knocked on the door and asked if they were sending it to the skip? yes was the answer so I asked if it was OK to take it and she said please do! so we now have a really safe fireguard to keep the Zebra child safe when we light up the woodstove, wow, right place, right time!!! Lucky me, Lyn xxx.

That used to be one of my Saturday morning jobs fuddle, I used to pop the girls white socks in the sink with a squirt of bleach topped up with hot water, let them have an hour whilst I did the hovering/washed the floors etc and then in the wash as normal. Used to come up lovely.

As of Friday I don't ever need to wash another school uniform again!!! Bittersweet really as it means my babies are all grown up but onwards and upwards :)

Thanks so much Lynn and fuddle. You are so right Lynn, I just don't fit and in some ways I am glad I am not like them, my dad particularly who is very judgemental and has many prejudices - basically anyone who isn't like him!.I wonder if they took home the wrong baby! I am my own person and proud to be. I just need to come to terms with the rejection I still feel.

I will be alright, just feeling sad today and can't think of anything much else. There is nothing wrong with sad feelings I know. I am trying to let them just be. I made myself go to the gym in the end as I wasn't getting anything done here. Something positive so I feel I haven't "wasted" the day and exercise helps me feel better physically and mentally. I had the whole gym to myself as it was the hour before school run. :)

I had almost accepted that our relationship was not saveable when my counsellor suggested that maybe a sort of imperfect relationship might be ok - rather than seeing things in black and white. I don't even know if I want to see them but am thinking of the kids. They may say yes at some later date and what ever pans out, I can at least tell myself and the children if they ask, that I have tried. I need to accept the situation now as it is and move on. I have other fab people to share my life with and I am very lucky in that respect.

Well DS9 is "starving" so I am getting their tea on early and no doubt he will still want a sandwich or similar later for supper. I had a big bowl of pasta for lunch so will just have a sandwich later with DH when he gets in from college.

((Pooky)) re the school uniform. I am sure your children will always be your babies to a degree even when are fully fledged adults!

Glad to hear you sounding so happy fuddle - the weekend sounded good.

    Yippee to the fireguard Lynn.

Apologies to everyone else I've missed. I'm behind with posts, will just try and keep up from now on....

sq :) (smiling a bit again)

Ah champion, thanks for the tips. Biotech dazi I am seeing in my minds eye a little yellow ball above the i on the packet? Dredging from childhood memories there! Think ill try a bit bleach. Thank you muchly :)

Growing up I always thought we would always have water because we had keilder reservoir in Northumberland. I remember family telling me that water from there was shipped to the south. Does that sound right?

I have missed the Chelsea flower show so need to catch up on that. So much to do but non of it of importance - exept to my happiness ;) I guess that means I am doing it then :D

I shall fire up the auld laptop then - yes still using the one MIL gave us that was about to be discarded. It's still working of sorts, rubbish for uploading photos but can do it given time, 'v' struggles and I can't use apostrophes or the @ key unless I copy and paste... Oh and hope that it doesn't fire up stuck in num lock!

Oh the fire guard? Good find and perfect, perfect, perfect! Well done done Lyn. :D nice feeling I bet in that it feeds your frugal ways, is needed, can be recycled for your needs and tap into your nurturing side in that its for keeping zebra safe. I can feel the joy from here!

Fuddle - I bought some Biotex fairly recently & it was either Morrisons or maybe Poundland not sure, but its still about
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
