No sun here. Again!0

You can have some of mine as it's too hot for me

It's lovely down here too, shall I send you some sunshine in a box MAR, just to warm you up and make the ME back off for a while?0

We didn't get sun here until nearly 3pm, it was very warm and close but the cloud was so low. We went out early and the view across the channel was stunning - France was so visable but the low cloud, combined with smog and the sun blazing down in France gave the most incredible deep orange glow just above sea level - it was amazing. People were just stopping their cars to get out and look - I took some photos but they don't do it justice.
Have been pottering in and out of the garden, getting some work done and fiddling with plants. I've got a heavy week ahead with orders and it's DD2's busiest exam week, she has a prom and her leavers day....lots of highly emotional bits for her and me in turn.
Mar - come sit on my swingy swing, the suns just hitting it before it drops behind the trees in the field behind, it was so pretty to watch it set last night - we lit the chimenea as we were being plagued by flying things...I think we may well do the same this evening."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. He says the other group who did it in the afternoon got to put their stuff in the fridge first thing, but as his lesson was first thing he didn't. And the teacher didn't tell them to refrigerate it at the end of the lesson. Let's hope they don't all get salmonella eh? I'm sad for him though, he prepared the cooked chicken and cooked the courgette for it last night and was all proud of himself.
If he has the recipe, let him prepare at home for meal that you can all enjoy to try his cooking, that way he will also see that it isn't the fact that he has made it that has put you off eating it just where it was made.
I had to do that couple of different times with both my Ds's and their food tech as storage in school wasn't adequate.

We had plenty of sun here--and a bit more tomorrow. I'll see if I can let it know you'd like some your way Mar.
Very productive day in the garden, several more plants put out, new batches of lettuce/spinach/spring onions/radishes sown last of the flowers potted, plenty of weeding and more nets put up to discourage cats. We also had an omelette for tea, so the garden looks a bit like I'm practising some strange form of witch craft with little circles of crushed eggshell around most of the plants.
Rhubarb crumble keeping warm in the now turned off oven, waiting for us. I did the rhubarb in the microwave as someone (was it PIC?) suggested--worked a treat! I also made a couple of large salads to go with the eggs (and a bit of fried okra that I found lurking in the freezer) so there is plenty of that left over for an easy lunch tomorrow. Perhaps some hard boiled eggs and bread to go with (can you tell I've got it in for those slugs and snails??)
Neighbour now has his very unpleasant friends round. I'm now very glad that I didn't make any overtures earlier this week as I can only imagine what they'd be like if they thought we were an easy source for cash.0 -

Yes he is making it for us tomorrow. Rather looking forward to it in fact!
DD finally learnt to ride her bike today, DS did 4 hrs of karate and amongst all the heat DH & I did loads of housework. Oh and I fed and watered two extra rabbits and two extra cats. All in a day's work.0 -
Pic do hope your Gp is kind and helpful to your daughter and things get sorted quickly. I had scare a while ago and after a recent scan the gentleman that did it said I had a beautiful womb for my age
Dgs has a lousy cold and ws ready for sleep early tonight, maybe he had a headache so we popped upstairs and 15 minutes later he was fast asleep. Now I just have to get my energy together for all the work I have lined up for tomorrow. Hubby isnt too good today, feeling a little odd but he managed an hour sat outside in the shade while Dgs played. We have cancer clinic this week so its probably stress.
I have lots of baby plants to re-pot tomorrow, leeks, blue peas  and toms for a start. Spud bags to top up and shrubby type things to put in the orchard - sounds grand but its not :rotfl: about 20 foot by 30 foot! its still my orchard, just need to turn the house into a cottage now and I have the 2 things I always wanted.Clearing the junk to travel light

I will get my caravan0 -
Morning campers, wonderful day here again and I was awakened at 5.15 by an alarm going off outside, but I didn't mind a tiny bit as it was so lovely being awake that early and listening to the birdsong. We have been to a bootfair, it was much bigger than usual and I have found many things without parting with too much cash. One mans rubbish being another mans (or womans in this case) treasure. I got a bouncy chair for the Zebra child and a floor gym too to keep here for visiting. We got a pressure barrel for He Who Knows cider which has developed much pressure in the bottles in this heat and is starting to be too much for the glass bottles it's currently in, kaboom!!!!! so this afternoon he'll try to open them up and transfer the cider to the barrel, Hmmmm we'll see how it goes! I got a lovely pint jug, some blue and white crockery for my random collection, a lovely french pottery stock pot/tureen part glazed and part earthenware and an unopened history board game for my teacher daughter to keep in the department as they sometimes have a few small ones not going on school trips and need interesting things to keep them occupied with. All in all we spent £15 between us, pretty good going I think.
He Who Knows is currently on the lottie but it's so hot I don't think he'll be there long and I'm just enjoying being warm in the lounge with the windows open and the curtains drawn as this really does help keep the temperature down. Hope you are all able to enjoy this weather today as it looks unsettled all over the UK this coming week and we could all do with having our batteries recharged couldn't we? Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all
Ginny - Hope DGS is feeling better.
Mrs LW - Great boot fair finds.
We were out by 8am to a boot fair that was twice the size it normally was (everyone cashing in on the good weather) - I picked up a few picture frames I can use for my papercuts, got DD2 a couple of little figurines she collects, a couple of ornaments for my ever evolving dresser and a huge carrier bag full of mosaic tiles and stones....I've got a project in mind for those and he only wanted £1! Bargain.
The veg stall had bowls of ripe avacados for £1 - there's 6 there, nearly crawling out of their skins so avocado and egg sarnies for lunch! yum.
I've had enough sun for one day - fair hair/fair skin and 2 hours of blazing sun don't mix - off to get my hair cut in an hour or so and then I shall find some jobs to keep me indoors"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
