Maybe Pooky has a thermostat issue as well possession :)
I struggle with our anniversary year more than the date, due to it being so early in the new year, rather bizarrely though its two days before yours pooky! :)

Congratulations possession - 17 years is considered a life time for most marriages.

My migraine hasnt lifted, OH ended up buying take away for dinner as apparently chicken legs are far too complicated for him to manage!

Trying to get kittie to pose for Pooky as we want to get a papercut for DS - however I had forgotten how blinking uncooperative cats and particularly kittens can be when they want to. :)

My parents arrived unannounced last night - 7pm again, we were all in PJs so I wasn't hugely happy. My father made a comment along the lines of had we decorated the dining room as the walls looked better (I think he was aiming to butter OH up) which backfired as OH pointed out the cleaner had been so it was simply clean. Sucking a lemon described the look we got!

Tomorrow we have the task of lifting the carpet and dismantling the sofas, have no idea where to start with the sofas so I think it will be a long day.
We collect baby kitty on Wednesday, and we haven't told the littlies yet, so it will be a total surprise, am hoping it will mean bigger kitten gets a break from cuddles as at the moment DS15 and DD8 are vying for his attention constantly.

Have you tried getting rid of the sofas via free-bicycle or similar Kidkat?

When we brought this house I listed on there that all the carpets would be coming up and as they were big rooms they might be of use to someone - I had people sitting outside as we got the keys waiting for the carpets - one bloke helped me lift the biggest one and they took them away to either use in their house or on their allotment. It saved me a skip load :)

Good luck with the sofas and the kitty Kidcat.
I don't think my fridge has beeped for about an hour. Bliss.

Oooh Pooky you are beeping naughty!! :0

The sofas can't leave whole Pooky - we had to dismantle doors, balcony etc to get them in, to get them out I would need to empty DS15 bedroom, remove his bedroom door and then his balcony doors, then remove the balcony as well. I simply have neither the time, energy or patience or even skill to do that again, removal men did it last time. So dismantled is the only way forward. In fairness the covers are all split, stained and the cushions underneath are worse, so I don't feel guilty ending their life as it were. DS15 has announced he doesn't feel he will cope with watching and will stay in his room until its done.

I think the pain killers are kicking in as I can look at the screen without my sunglasses now, and have even switched on a lamp :)

You could always specify that on free-bicycle - collector will need to dismantle and rebuild house before taking items away - but im not sure you'll get many takers :)

A small saw/hammer/axe will do the job then - it's amazing how flimsy sofas are when you strip them back.

    Glad the headache is clearing.

Hi Kidcat I had to dismantle a couple of sofas beginning of the year. I used a Stanley knife, a jigsaw and a pair of heavy duty wire cutters/tin snips.
Getting as much clear space around the sofa as possible was the first step.
Basic process was cut away the cover and padding from the seat and back area to expose the wooden skeleton. Using the jigsaw I separated the arms which went out without further work. I used the tinsnips to cut the zigzag wire springs as close to the wooden members as possible. I found the springs to be unruly and to get in the way a lot. The remaining vertical timber members I either broke free or cut with the jigsaw.
I wasn’t worried about the neatest job or breaking it into the smallest pieces, just into lumps I could comfortably carry out of the house and fit in the car for the tip.
The springs are really tough, If I could have found them I’d have used bolt cutters, the snips did the job but more leverage would have been nice. I think I used 4 stanley knife blades and a handsaw would have worked but the jigsaw was faster and I wasn’t interested in pretty –

    Morning all,

Nuatha you always seem to pop in with very useful information. I've seen it several times on a couple of threads. Just wanted you to know someone noticed that you're a very kind person.:D

Possession That would drive me round the bend in no time. Was there no way for the guy who looked at it to disable the beeping until they figured out what was wrong with it? I suppose he would have needed the manual for that!

Bit of a disturbed night. Before bed OH thought he smelled gas in the bathroom. We both checked all over the house but couldn't really be sure it was even gas and it seemed to have disappeared so we went to bed (we keep bathroom and bedroom door closed at night). This morning I got up and thought I smelled it outside the bedroom door--but not in the bathroom. OH thinks he smells it downstairs right below the bedroom door--but I can't. Whatever it is it is very, very faint and isn't exactly like the smell they add to gas but similar. OH even went next door to our neighbour (he of unruly neighbour fame) to see if perhaps he had left something on and unlit. Well, neighbour was lit, lit with several litres of alcohol, but nothing seems to be coming from there. OH now thinks it might be a musty smell that sometimes emanates from under the stairs, brought out the by warmer weather. Of course in the meantime we've both been wandering around sniffing everything trying to figure out if there is any reason to call the gas board and every time reaching the conclusion that there is a smell but it isn't gas. Poor Maggie thinks we've lost it, wandering around sniffing.:rotfl:

Lovely day in the garden yesterday, plenty of new plants in. It was supposed to be cold and raining but there was none of that. Not sure what today will bring--if nice it is back out in the garden, if not it will be sewing.
