DD1 6lb 12 appeared after 7hrs and an oh sh*t that hurt after each contraction and an episieotomy.

DD2 6lb 4 appeared after 6hrs and lots of biting on the gas and air mouth piece (the tubing would not fit on the mouthpiece) and a natural tear. it did not feel very natural to me.

It has been a beautiful day today. It's a good job that i have my back to the window at work or I would have spent the day daydreaming.

They were collecting for the foodbank at the supermarket tonight so I totted up the amount of money off coupons I had and spent that saved money on tinned food for the foodbank.

DD1 and I are having a rare mother and daughter evening tomorrow. We are going to see one of her friends in a production of One Flew Over the Cukoos Nest.

DD2 will be away next week on the National Citizenship Summer of a Lifetime, she attended last year as a participant and loved it. This year she has been asked to go back as a Ambassador helping the participants on this years course. I am really proud of her generous nature, she really enjoys things like this. She also volunteers as an coach twice a week at her athletics club.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

I had one difficult birth with my first son and the next three literally popped out without any pain relief. It was very easy and I was very lucky.

As a midwife I have seen every sort of birth and they are all very special. Gosh I miss it x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Evening toughies - its the last night of holiday today and I am exhausted, I need a holiday to get over my holiday. :)

Lots of mums at school go on holiday and just sit by the pool all day and put the kids in the clubs but I much prefer the excitement of taking the kids to new places, even if it is exhausting.

Mrs Chip - less said about cardiff the better, the Dr Who exhibition was lovely but the journey was a nightmare, OH was not a happy bunny at all.

Fuddle - our Mr T had folding picnic tables reduced last week before we left and they looked fairly decent :)

Sorry the journey was awful Kidcat - if you were anywhere near M5/M4 there is always potential for horrendous traffic - for some reason the area around Cardiff and Newport seems to attract accidents. And traffic into Cardiff can be awful too - I used to think London was bad, but every time we have been there has been massive queues on the roads into the city .

Mrs Vegplot - you have every right to be extremely proud of DD2! Have a lovely time with DD1 tomorrow.

Kidcat - "I much prefer the excitement of taking the kids to new places, even if it is exhausting." I totally agree!!

The idea of lounging for hours by a pool instead of going off for adventures with (or even without) kids doesn't appeal to me at all. Why have kids if you don't want to spend time with them?? Why go to new places and stay in one spot?? But that's just me and anyway my kids wouldn't cope with being away from us with strangers for hours on end.

I love telling the kids what we/I have planned or surprising them or getting them involved with planning. I love the whole school summer holidays with my kids just stretching out before us with all sort of mini adventures. Today the kids played out on their own briefly for the first time ever. Our back gate goes past our end neighbours and leads to a little path and a decent size, car free grassy area with some very low bushes. They made a little den in the bushes after which they excitedly came back in to take DH and I to.

Actually thinking about it some more.... I could probably manage just a few hours of lounging... you know if someone insisted :D. I have been lucky enough to have a couple of spa days in the past post kids and the luxury of a whole day just being in itself is ................. beyond words!

Well I can't top VJ's dad being a fireman on the Flying Scotsman but my dad was a fireman for his local steam railway - Derwent Valley Railway, all gone now and part of a country park I think. He has a photo of him and his old workmates standing beside their train (can't think for the life of me what it was called) and he is so proud of those days.

right nearly pumpkin time again, still nothing to get up especially early for I guess, other than a long list of to-dos :D

sleep well anyone still up or an early good morning to the larks

    Morning all

Been offline for a couple of days so I thought as I had to come downstairs with a cranky little one I would catch up (if its possible, you lot can chat). It's nice and cool down here and he is sleeping finally. We're meant to be going to the local summer fayre on the park later too. I shall have to see how he feels.

Getting rid of one more kitten tomorrow, if they last that long. The little b*ggers are running up and down the hall at the moment causing a right racket.

Been enjoying all the chat about the 70's. Even though it was a hard time money wise for my parents I have really fond memories. I was talking to mum earlier about what I will do with the little one during the long holidays (I'm lucky enough to work term time only), and have decided its going to be gardening, allotmenting, colouring and visiting the park and the farm at work. None of this dragging the around shopping centres and expensive days to overpriced theme parks all the time. I really want him to have a traditional upbringing and learn that you don't have to spend to have a good time. Some memory making for him I think. Mind you we both love getting mucky outside so I see lots of washing ahead.

    Off for another mooch now.

I've been watching the 3 kids at the top of our street playing out in the back field with a kite. Amazing height it goes up, and they've played out there all day for three days. The eldest looks like she's about 13, and it was so nice to see real kids playing real kids games that it made me smile.
I've got one set of grandchildren who play outside all the time and haven't got a computer or tv at all ...and the other lot spend their time in front of screens 24/7 and wouldn't know how to play if you left them outside :(

    Morning doorsteppers!

Gosh, lots of labour stories! I have 5 children, and was very lucky to have no major problems during pregnancy or labour, and no sun roof deliveries. No 1 was a 4 hour labour, gas and air, no 2 less than 2 hours (ambulance stopped on the way twice) and was born in A & E, no 3 3 hours, all ok. Fast forward 15 years, and nos 4 and 5 were 2 hours each. Biggest was 7'11, smallest was 6'3 - got smaller the more I had! :rotfl:

Got washing and shopping to do this morning, then at work for a short spell. After tea we're going to a local music event - loads of different music, we take nice nibbles, sit around in the sun, maybe Rule Britannia or National Anthem at the end, all very civilised and calm. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but after a frantic few months it's a lovely breather!

Sis who lives away arrives next week for a visit, so may need to up the ADs or come here and rant now and again! She's the difficult rellie that every family has one of - emotional, critical, world revolves around her, etc., .......

I'm also looking forward to the summer hols; might still be up at silly o'clock, but we won't need to rush around to get ready, can have proper breakfasts, do what we like, catch up with friends, have picnics in the woods near us...so much to do! :j Most of my friends are dreading the hols, but then a lot work so have childcare to sort out, some really don't know what to do with their kids that doesn't involve huge wads of cash, and some, quite frankly, can't stand the thought of being with their kids 24/7 for 6 weeks!

Love and hugs for the things I've read, but forgotten - bad week mentally for me, so brain like a sieve! :D

    A xo
