It's giving me a headache too. Definitely do not like it. It's so pale/sober. Blends in with the white too much. It needs something more contrasting."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
It doesn't really look like it was designed more like it was thrown together, both structure and colour wise. The graphics are poor too. No improvement on the old one IMO, should have saved your money!0

UPDATE NOTE Friday 4pm: Thanks for all the feedback and bug spotting. The site is mostly working well, but with the odd glitch here and there. We've worked hard today to get most of the basic ones fixed so the site is up and running well. Thought there are a good few more to go. The MSE techie team were up all night getting it up and running, so only a few more tweaks are possible today - as I've sent em home. Martin
Quick note: We will look at the forum green next week if it's still causing problems. Also you'll note the forum is already back to Verdana (for most people, caching may mean it not happened yet for a few). Also the breadcrumb trail now has all the links everyone wanted in.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

Loving the new look though I hope you change the green used on the forums to a another green as this green is painful to stare at. Could we have the right sidebar on the left as I used to looking at the right of the screen.:A eddieh :A0

Congratulations on the successful switch - I for one know how much work this sort of thing is!
On the green "white" space to the right of the forums, is it actually necessary to have the information there while reading topics? By the time you get to an individual topic you'll have seen it once on the main forum list for overview, then possibly customised for the individual section when you go there. If there's no additional new content at individual topic reading level it does seem useful to remove or cut down its width significantly at the lowest level to increase the space for text.
It's not new to use the space but it's natural that people look for ways to improve things after the change and this might be one way to do it while still presenting the useful information where it's most helpful.
Direct thread hits from a search engine are one consideration. It might be useful to have it displayed at the individual topic level if the referrer isn't blank or MSE, so those coming from a search engine do still see it.
On the more straightforward glitch front, the forum code box width doesn't adjust to fit the browser width and it would be nice if it did.
Good move on sending people home. Being up too long increases the risk of technical mistakes, so nice preventative move, as well as being sensible HR.0
