A new tesco near me has a hair salon, but it is outsourced, regis, i think, the same what they have halal butcher counters in some.
you pay at their own counter, unsure if you get clubcard points, but I wouldnt go looking for an "everyday value" cut who knows what you could end up with
youd be as confused as the op has left everyone with their post !

You do get Clubcard points. :)

I think Tesco for groceries, a hairdresser's for hair stuff. Sometimes one service is one diversification too many.

They are Regis hair salons, so thankfully not a service provided directly by Tesco. :p

Sure, you're not getting a luxury service but I usually want a quick, simple hair cut and I like that I can have my hair done just before the grocery shop. Cheap and convenient.

One wonders what it's doing to all those other hairdressers who thought they might be fairly immune to the onslaught of supermarkets.

First it's food, then financial products, then toys, then electrical items, then books, now you can even get your hair cut. Eventually we'll have no specialist or independent shops at all. We'll go to Tesco for everything :(

Very true. Tesco are taking over the world.

Like I say though, I find it convenient and they do undercut all of the competition where I live, so I admit I'm happy for them to take over.

Still, if I want something special such as a total style change or to feel 'pampered' I'll go to an independent salon and will pay more. I guess it's about offering something that Tesco can't, and as much as I love a cheap hair cut there's nothing relaxing about having your hair cut in the middle of a large supermarket, whilst thinking about your grocery shopping and listening to the tannoy announcements every few minutes. :p

I'm wondering what the difference would be between the 'value' and the 'finest' haircuts ...

Blue and white stripes? I'm up for that!
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

Problem is.. those independent salons won't last much longer.
