Why dont employers...?

Want to employ a bankrupt? What gives them the right to dismiss you if you do become BR?

How are you supposed to move on if dont have a job?

At a guess they are a risk or embarrasment. You wouldn't want to be given finacial advice by someone who couldn't run their own finances.

I can understand if its a mortgage company/bank/insurance company. But other than that?

My dh is to work in recruitment...what difference does that make? And to be totally honest, I think if we had been paid for the work we did instead of the company liquidating before we were paid we wouldnt be in this situation.

    NME,

I'm a Finance Officer :o and it didn't cause me any undue problems, I had to write a brief report on the reasons why it happened, the effect on my Family and any likely impact on my ability to do the job; never been mentioned again. I tried to get out of paying 3 months tea money on the basis that I couldn't favour cerditors but unfortunately that didn't work

Your O.H hasn't been declared bankrupt yet and the chances are that if and when he is, it won't make any difference at all.

    You cheeky G1t :D

Bankruptcy is merely a mechanism for redistributing scarce economic resources; it doesn't make bankrupts risky or embarrasing.

Your coming at it from a different viewpoint and before you ask no I wouldn't hire a bankrupt.

    Bh,

Sometimes you can be so thoughtful and understanding and another time so unnecessarily unkind. (Emotionally / psychologically unbalanced?)

The point is, NME and myself, and lots of others on this board have been, and will be again, people running businesses and employing others; I strongly suspect that is not the case for you.

Judging by your financial statistics, I would have very grave reservations about offering you employment ;)

BH - Why would you not hire a BR?

My oh is superb at, for want of another word, sales - he is one of the best. he is, however, useless at accounts, paperwork etc etc.

Someone will benefit greatly from hiring him. I hope ever employer doesnt share your views... :(

    NME,

It's always worth posting your questions on the web site below, there are some knowledgeable guys and gals there, but none of the harsh judgements.

Despite being a bankrupt myself, I can see why employers wouldn't be too keen. If I cast my minds eye back to what I thought a bankrupt was before it happened to me, then I wouldn't have given me a job. I would now, but thats the with the benefit of having being through the process and knowing I'm better, not worse at managing my finances post bankruptcy.

Sadly, the only other people who would understand that are fellow bankrupts, not society as a whole.
