Oh and forgot to add, NEVER buy online. You need them to be checked by someone trained at fitting.0

This is them!http://www.ricosta.co.uk/ricosta-wendy-purple-girls-shoe
Stunning little shoe, lightweight and well padded, picture doesn't do justice
OP if your kid is just in the garden what's wrong with socks or even barefeet if you keep it swept/raked.0 -
That's the price of kids shoes
it's a joy when they grow out of them, NOT. But you can't scrimp on them as you only get one pair and they've to last you a while

I wouldn't spend that on shoes for myself but a child's bones are soft and they need to fit properly and to get the personal service of having them properly fitted and the shoe actually being designed for a child's shape of foot is worth the money to me.
She's nearly 17 months and is actually on her third pair of shoes so it has been expensive. She's walks outside a lot tho as she has an aversion to her buggy so often does the school run on foot.
The growth tends to slow down between 2 & 3 my son was a size 7 for 13 months so it evens out.
Also about 95% of her clothes have been second hand so I don't mind spending on shoes, I wouldn't buy second hand shoes0 -

Yep, kids shoes are expensive. And they grow out of them fast. But it's one of the baby things that you're advised to buy new (cf clothes which I get off ebay).Mortgage when started: £330,995

I think it's poor advice to suggest that shoes can be bought online, even if the machine (or however feet are measured these days) says someone's a 2G, you won't know how the shoes fit until they're actually on. Obviously you'll be able to return them, but it relies on you assessing whether they fit or not, and I think I'd prefer that advice in store.
Isn't it like Clarks, where although you order them online, they are delivered to store where you go in to collect them and have the fit checked properly before you buy them? Not sure as never seen a Brantano.originalmiscellany wrote: »Thank you for all your feedback - I think the plan will be to try to get something suitable in the next few weeks - trying Clarks and some others local to us will be the next step.
Are you only looking in the stores? Because there are a selection of 2G on Clarks website. And as I mentioned above, although you order them online, they go to the store where you then take her in to see if they fit properly before buying them.

My 2 have been a H fitting since first shoes, and although there's a smaller selection of styles available, have never had a problem getting that width from Clarks anytime they needed new shoes.0 -
DS's first pair were 4H!!
I used to buy shoes online in the right size, but realise now this was a big mistake.
Shoes should always be fitted properly, as just because they're the right size, doesn't mean they'll fit properly! It also depends on the depth and the shape of the foot.
My advice would be to ONLY EVER buy toddler shoes from someone who knows how to check they fit properly.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
DD's first shoes were a 3.5H - she was just coming up to 1 and had been walking for 2-3 months by then.
She's now 32 months and a 6.5-7F/G depending on the style. I think of them as I do my own bras - the same size doesn't always fit and the shape varies a lot! I think it's reasonably obvious if they don't fit properly though. I avoid T bar shoes as DD has a high instep. Mind you, turn your back for 3 seconds when she's playing in the garden and she'll have taken them off anyway!
I've taken to buying a size or do ahead in the Clarks/Startrite sales.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Yes you can order in to Clarks, but it's definitely worth finding a good independent. Clarks will only sell you Clarks shoes, a decent independent will sell you the best fit for your child from a range of makes. Having had a child with awkward feet, I think it's really good to have a range of choices.
Oh, and if you think £34 is expensive, how about when they grow into a size 9 with the narrowest feet ever. The kids stuff is too short, the adult too wide, and you end up paying 70 or 80 quid for the only pair in the world that fits their feet.0
