Your link is for unsolicited goods. Further up the thread there is discussion as to whether this extra parcel is unsolicited.
That is true. However they are certainly not goods left behind.
Indeed see the thread posted above. The advice isn't quite spot on. It does not include the law about errors or something. Someone found it in my thread.

As citizens advice and trading standards do not give the full picture, so I found.
The errors advice still allows you to take possession after 6 months and there is no requirement to take care of the goods.

Indeed. But not immediately like unsolicited.

I'm beginning to wonder if battleborn is Flyboy under another pseudonym?

(Although Flyboy's posts tended to be more eloquent, and at least usually grammatically correct. So maybe not).

Is Flyboy no longer? He was a crosspatch wasn't he.

Wasn't "he" a "she"? (As in an ironic username).

Mid Dec I ordered an item that turned up as a FedEx parcel that was accepted and signed for. Next day I get an email saying 'Your package is being shipped' I just assumed that they were a bit slow. Then a couple of days later yet another package shows up this time from the UK (the original one was from California). So now it is XMAS time so just left things until they get back, however today I receive an invoice from FedEx for 18 quid for shipping.

So, I only ordered one from a company in Middlesex, no dealings at all from the US of A.

When we signed for the package we had no idea it was an 'extra' so we have accepted the FedEx shipping agreement although I paid for postage costs with the Middlesex company. If I had signed for the real item, not the extra I would follow the ideas in this thread, however life is a bit more complicated.

    Any suggestions please?
  • The £18 invoice that you received won't be for shipping charges but will be be for VAT and a handling fee for the shipment from the states.
When you placed the order for the goods, were you aware of the fact that they were going to be shipped from the USA?

    As to the 2nd item.
All you have to do is to contact the company concerned and tell them of the problem and ask for them to arrange for it to be collected at a time that is convienient to you.

Please note that you are quoting from both Adviceguide England and Adviceguide Northern Ireland. They are different because some legistalaion is different in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Not sure in this instance if there is a major difference in consumer legislation, but you should only read the one for which bit of the UK you are in.

Plus, quoting Adviceguide is not as comprehensive as Advisernet. Adviceguide is the abridged version. Advisernet may give more specific information.

Yes, thanks, I am aware of that but the thing is I have a 'contract' if you like with the UK company and paid in full for the item and the postage (around 8UKP) so I don't see that the mess with that company getting the source supplier to send direct to me should be my concern. The plan is after contacting them today for me to send it back and I get compensated for the return postage (to Middlesex). As for the FedEx side of things I have told them to simply deal with it. Not confident at all that any of this will be resolved smoothly.
