Parking ticket at work car park

I recieved a parking ticket for £60 from 'Parking Ticketing Limited) for parking in my office car park in a legitimate space. I have a permit registered with the college transport dpt, but the parking company hold a contract, apparently. My permit was in my car, but had slipped off the dashboard onto the passenger chair therefore i have recieved a ticket for it not being visible.

I've read the useful stickies but I just want clarification on whether I should

1. ignore or

2.if the PPC is a member of the British Parking Association's Approved Operator Scheme (BPA AOS), appeal to the PPC using any of the applicable grounds below and then appeal to the independent Parking on Private Land Appeals (POPLA) service (see below for further details). If the appeal is unsuccessful then ignore subsequent correspondence from the PPC.

^^ Which I can understand but the link is broken to check whether the PPC is a member - how can I find this out?

Which is the best option in this situation?

Also the POPLA - I saw there should be a code. I have a note on the ticket saying location code '002038' is this the POPLA?

thank you.

Parking Ticketing Limited are indeed BPA AOS members :

    britishparking.co.uk/Approved-Operators

So option 2 would suit you best.

Google will get you the memberlist. BPA have a less than impressive history here, which is probably why its broken.

No, you need to make an appeal to the scammers before you get a POPLA code - They should send one with their near-inevitable refusal.

Read the POPLA appeal thread before you do, you first appeal to the PPC can be however you want it but you must make your POPLA appeal strong - there are good examples there to base it on. :)

POPLA is paid for by the PPC and only binding on the PPC. From that point you ignore them ( if they won ). There is a slim possibility that Parking Ticketing Limited might try to take you to court but given you had a permit they've suffered no loss so can't ask for anything !

Besides, I've never heard of this outfit let alone them taking anyone to court.

Popla decisions are binding on ppc's but not on drivers. at present over (just) 50% of appeals are won with a greater percentage of wins when they ask for and get assistance with the appeal.

ps, just seen this gem on their site:-
Once we receive the signed Warden Patrolled Ticketing Contract (click here for details), we arrange for one of our area managers to visit and survey your site, discuss requirements and identify your needs and decide upon the parking restrictions and number of warning signs required by law.

So you sign a contract then they decide what you need.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Put the permit on the dash.
Push down on the car wing several times.
See where the permit ends up.
    Now you know what happened.

    Ignore them.
    Be happy...;)

Of the tickets that go to POPLA the win rate for the person who got the ticket is about 50% BUT if you construct your appeal from advice given on this forum the chances of winning go up ( considerably ).

As demonstrated in this thread :

POPLA is a kangaroo court run by parking ticket scammers themselves .
    They make kangaroo judgements.
They refuse to accept very basic legal principles in to these judgements.

Agreed but the threat of POPLA sometimes makes the PPC back down and even if it doesn't at least it costs them £32.
