If they said 2 tyres would be 220, and you agreed, and you paid 220, and you have the receipt, then your fine.

However if they said it would be 440 (for example) and you agreed, but when it came to paying they only charged 220, then they can pursue the outstanding amount.

Whether they'd be successful or not is a different point. It's unlikely they would go to court for £220. And even then, you could argue that you were given a deal on the day.

However, I would pay what i agreed to, my word is my bond

Oh, you never made a mistake then.
If you know the price was incorrect then pay up.

    You know you're wrong ... that's why you're asking.

Thanks, my friend. I know that I have not paid the correct price for the two tyres but I have paid what I was asked to pay and given a receipt. Basically the cashier cocked it up....

So you knew they'd made a mistake at the outset and decided not to correct them?

How many people would, really? "That'll be £200 please sir. No no no, you said £400 earlier, I insist on paying £400.".

I'm surprised they managed to ring you at home. Normally a garage doesn't have my phone number or address, only a name.

Sit and wait to see if they take you to court for the money.

Or worse. Eventually though you will probably end up paying it.

You know they have made a mistake. Legally they don't have a leg to stand on.
But morally, if you can live with it that's up to you.

Would you have taken the 440 deal before all this happened OP?
