The thing about black/white signs is purely a guideline for best practice to ensure people can read a sign clearly even with a visual impairment (dark blue or black, on a white or pale yellow back ground is clearest I think). There's nothing to say a sign can't be white writing on black.

Unless there's a bylaw enabling towing/clamping under lawful authority then that sign is not allowed. It only talks about clamping/towing doesn't it, can't see anything about a fake PCN as an alternative on that sign?

I think those signs where there is nothing about 'ticketing' had to be removed by April. Unless there's a specific 'clamping/towing enabling' bylaw at those Docks, which potentially I suppose there could be (check with the Council). IMHO there probably is NOT.

And how come you got a ticket if there's no sign about tickets?

Was it a PENALTY Charge Notice or a PARKING Charge Notice?

    Hi
it was a penalty charge notice, I need to double check that but pretty sure it was. I think they caught me on camera without a permit to be parked there.

Thing is there was a festival on at the docks that weekend, the entire site was taken up and cut off except for ticketed access. I was actually displaying at the festival and was loading up my gear at the end. There was no traffic and no obvious signs....gits

They need to send their sign writers to learn grammar too. They obviously don't know the difference between a noun and a verb. It should be "licensed" not "licenced"!
For a council sign that's unacceptable.

Sounds odd - are you sure you received a PENALTY charge notice? Would a council be using a private company to handle parking?

That is NOT a Council Penalty ticket - it's a fake private one, a PARKING Charge Notice just like every other thread on this forum!

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4297857

Same scam is run at the QA Hospital Portsmouth as in those links shown on that thread. Watch out because the old advice there says ignore but that's not the best advice now, IMHO. The only difference now in Summer 2013 is that we advise people to challenge it once the registered keeper is sent the first letter. If you got a windscreen fake PCN then wait for the first letter (as long as you are the registered keeper with the DVLA).

Let us see the Notice when it arrives please.

Thanks coupon mad, heres the notice (link has a space again), you are right its a Parking charge notice. It wasnt my car so I appealed straight away saying we were allowed to load and unload there. Buy the sound of the other threads now that Ive appealed I can ignore this? My only worry is that I was borrowing the car and I dont want the owner to get hassled
