    Hi

Will you be walking from home alot or is it to go in three back of the car ?

We did walk into our local towncentre alot so I had a large 3 in 1 system that I could put loads of shopping underneath but also had a large pram on top that my two were very comfortable in. So when I got back if they were asleep they could stay there. I also used it as somewhere to put them down to sleep during the day downstairs. It lived permanently in the hallway.
It was very big though so not great for the back of the car so I had a pushchair for the back of the car.

I wouldnt spend too much on a pram. My daughter only fit in hers for 6 months then it was useless. I also wouldnt spend too much on a buggy because therw are some people (like me) who end up buying lots of them to find the perfect one! In 2 years I had 1 pram, 2 carriers and 7 buggies!

I've had a similar number - but in my defence - some live at grandparents' houses and finding a double that works can be a case of using one and then changing as the ages of the kids changes and the old one isn't as awesome again (Phil and Teds between about 3 months and 6 months for the smaller child come to mind here)

To those with the Uppababy Vista - what colour did you get and how has it worn?

I am loving the Lindsey/Wheat colour but wonder if it will get messy and I might regret it in a year or so.

Also, how does the black frame wear - does it scratch badly?

    Thanks!:)

I have an Uppababy Vista in jake black with the black frame and no it doesn't scratch. I love this pushchair and so does my ds! I have just purchased the Uppababy g-luxe 2013 also in jake black as my lightweight stroller for public transport/holiday however if I was able to drive, my vista would go everywhere with me.

One of my pushchairs has the nice combination of a black frame and a fold design where part of the frame lies on the ground as you fold it up (which pillock thought this one was a good idea is beyond me)... I just touch up any scraped areas with a black perm marker if they're annoying me.

To those of you with the Uppababy Vista's did any of you use the carry cot instead of a moses basket when baby was small? I know you can use if for overnight sleeping but I interpreted that as "for night's away"
During my new sport of staring at all the buggies in town to see if anyone has an uppababy and stopping the person pushing for an impromptu review (im aiming for the buggy spotting olympics!) one of the mum's told me that they did that at first -wondered if anyone else had and what they thought about it?
Its my first baby so I was worried that baby wouldnt associate carry cot with "bedtime" if he was used to going out in it and also that it might be a bit less hygenic for sleeping if its going outside every day as well .....apologies if they are stupid concerns...I've got a lot to learn ;-)
  • research, research, research.

i brought a pushchair second hand ... it was exactly like i wanted parent facing etc etc butttttt ... we can only just fit it in the car and it has to go in on the angle as it is so long sooo even before baby is born im having to sell and buy another !!!! i always said i would have 1 pushchair from birth till it no longer needs one and im already having to buy another even before it is born ..... argghh ...

test and research before you buy ....
list what you want out of a pram/pushchair as everyone's situation is different x HTH

I am also a FTM, but I have ordered an U Vista and I am planning on using the carrycot as a bassinet and not bothering with the moses basket. I have asked in about 4 different shops and looked online and everyone has said its fine to use it this way.

I am not experienced in your other questions like associating it with bedtime, etc but I am doing my darnedest to avoid having a LOAD of stuff to store after it grows out of it (eg carrycot AND moses basket) plus if I am spending that much on a travel system, I figure saving on the moses basket makes sense.

I use mine full time for sleeping with my 14 week old. I didn't intend to but he wasn't settling well in the Moses Basket. It was narrower than the carrycot and I decided to try the Uppababy carrycot one night when he was about 3 weeks old and have used it ever since. We use it with normal moses basket sheets to cover the mattress. He will be in it for another couple of weeks before moving to a cot.

In my opinion, very young babies sleep so often anyway (I know it doesn't seem like it!) that they don't make the association. They sleep on your knee, in the car seat, in the pushchair, bassinet, cot playmat etc etc. I know everyone has their own thoughts on sleeping though. xx

Ahh, finding the right buggy it is one of the most difficult purchases you will make in your life, it's like trying to compare laptops (well for me it was with dd!)

I listened to the advice of other mums in a baby group, we were all expecting around the same time and many had chosen the Silvercross 3D travel system, and I blindly followed. Now don't get me wrong, it was fab for trekking through the snow, it's like the 4x4 of buggies, but it is hard to collapse, bulky and I was too stubborn to buy a new one.

Now, 5 months pregnant, I have opted for the Mamas and Papas Luna as it is perfect for our needs. We have a mamas and papas primo vaggio car seat and base which is compatible so car seat just clicks out of car on to pushchair, no fussing, but it's lightweight too and folds quickly, simply and is easy to steer. Also, it is very easy to push one handed, which is good because holding a toddlers hand and pushing a buggy on the school run isn't the easiest of feats. I think I have nailed it with the right combo this time but only time will tell, I suspect it will be useless on ice/in snow. Almost forgot, I bought it for £65 at Boots with discount codes etc. instead of £160, they have a £22 off a £100 spend that automatically gets deducted and a £25 off pushchairs and car seats code too.

Good luck, a good place to start if your struggling is finding out the nominees for the mother and baby awards and reading reviews, noting down any points that are deal breakers for you etc.
