Less than 2 years old driving license, and got 3 points

but then if everyone was following the rules and not speeding, then the speed cameras wouldn't earn a penny
*yawn*
As I explained, they like to trick people into speeding by using confusing and inappropriate road signs/limits and quite near to me by encouraging drivers to race each other to pointless road merge points on a dual carriageway.
I think this is why many people seem to drive about like complete morons at 42mph on EVERY single road. Because in a 30 there are no cameras......
It's these f*ckwits that kill children outside schools, not people who are just trying to merge as the dual carriageway comes down from 70 to 50.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

you just have to be more careful mate, the striped lines on the road are not that had to spot. EVen when you first miss it you can smash on the brakes get a lower average reading.
Satnavs are pretty good for warning you of speed cameras as well. You dont need to have your route turned on, just drive and it will ping two or 3 times where there are speed cameras ahead.0 -

I see plenty of idiots belting past schools and down residential streets, they know full well they'll never get caught.
Exactly, they've been out in force lately near me on a stretch of dual carriageway 50mph (no houses nearby or any pedestrians crossing) and of course they're on the downhill side where it's easier to stray over the limit. In fairness, they have been doing this from a van with the 'battenberg' on the back so not too hard to spot as long as you're looking far ahead.
Fully agree they should be policing residential streets and around schools but 'most' people are sensible enough not to break the limits there.0 -

Oh please
so is this a new thing, or have i just been lucky over the last 23 years?0 -
You mean, your driving is so basic you can be 'tricked' into breaking the Law?
I suppose I shouldn't believe that for one moment....however.....................No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Hi there
i am really sorry, if this query is relevant in this section of forum.
my query is:
I had my driving license in 2011 october, and last week i got 3 points for speeding.
i know that my point limit is 6 point due to less than 2 years old license.
but my question is by october 2013 it will be 2 years of my license. so will my points limit will increase to 12.
I hope you all got my query.. i am really worried, i dont want to lose my license,, i learnt my lesson, no never speeding again!!!
thanking you in anticipation!!!
End of the day, you got three, you're allowed no more than 6, so just take it as a warning to be more careful, especially until you're off your probationary.
5 years ago, I'd agree if I was it was all about safety. Now I've come to accept it's just another way of making money to fund Cameron's one bit ripoff.
I had my lockup broken into the other night, called 101, told them there looked to be a viable fingerprint. Guess what, no one available, not to even come and take a look and tell me if I should open the garage and see what's been nicked or if we should hang on until it's been printed.
2 minutes down the road, what are erstwhile Police doing? Yep.... manning a speed trap, I'll give them credit that it was outside a school, where all the kids were inside, and no one crosses the road anyway because there's a subway. He wasn't happy that I stopped him making money to ask if he'd be able to nip round the corner for 10 minutes and tell me if it was worth getting the garage door dusted and declined, probably on the grounds that he might have met a scary burglar.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

traffic police for traffic...other police matters for other police?
What you'd have needed were CID or some-such?
We complained bitterly when Traffic Officers were diverted to 'other police work' [for the reasons you outline?]...then we complain even more bitterly when no-one was out there to enforce the Law when so many report witnessing such outlandish driving behaviour?
If people want policing-on-demand, they should be well prepared to pay for it.
What?
Don't want to pay any more in local taxation?
Well, we get what we pay for.
And what's all this rubbish about enforcement of the law having to be associated with 'safety?'
When will folk accept, law enforcement is law enforcement, plain & simple.
Or, would we rather all trafpol were again taken off their primary duties, to chase every and any crime reported.....so we can all go out and flout the law on the roads, simply because it suits us to do so?
If we all drove responsibly, and within the Law, then trafpol would have no reason to enforce the Law.
But, we don't. Nothing to do with so-called 'safety'...everything to do with enforcing the Law, which we all must accept..or go live somewhere else? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
But we don't, because to err is human, and it's always easy to pick up someone's mistakes, so lets make some money out of them.
Whereas if someone commits a deliberate criminal act, then chances are, they've applied a bit of thought in covering their tracks, so it would be far less profitable for the police to invest money in dealing with this sort of thing, when you can have officers out there making £70 every time someone makes a mistake and drives a little too fast.
Paying for policing on demand? If I could see where the money goes, I'd probably consider it. Oh, wait, I can, it went on the brand new unmarked Range Rover that Nottingham police are using.... in the middle of summer, in a city? That's got to be £70k's worth, so they need to catch 1000 speeders to pay for it.
If someone can't work out if a fingerprint is worth giving a bit of further thought to, they really shouldn't be a police officer, maybe a traffic warden would be a better occupation?
Go and live someone else? I'd love to, just can't afford it because I've got the government robbing me for every penny they can. </rant>Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
