We took our dog Sam to the vets this morning for a 'free pre-neuter consultation'.
While there we mentioned about him sometimes limping for a minute after he's been lying down, the vet felt his back legs, and couldn't feel anything, but said if it carrys on he may need an xray.
We were shocked when we went back to the reception desk, and were charged £20 for the consultation fee because we mentioned his leg. The lady said this had been reduced from £27!

Didn't realise vets were this expensive

I did take out an 'accident only' policy with Morethan, assuming with him being under 1 year old he wouldn't get anything go wrong yet.

We don't have any pets that need insurance or vets visits (so don't understand how any of it works) so I'm shocked at how they can do that
Surely they'd have to tell you you'd be charged before they did anything?

I've had porridge made with watered down milk for brekkie and a muller light with 10 chopped up grapes for lunch.

Havent decided on dinner yet but i suspect that it will be a veg stir fry, and cals allowing, chuck a bit of chicken in too.

Dont know if I am going to make 500 cals today but i will be as close as i can get!

Hope everyone else is getting on ok :)

I'm not yet on the Fat Club list as I wanted to try a Fast Day first to see if there was any chance at all tht I could stick to 5:2.

I had a mug of tea with a little milk before I got up (DH is well trained) and then delayed my breakfast until 10.30 am (half a slice of toast and a third of a tin of B/beans. I've just had a low cal (9c) dish of jelly and 3 grapes with another 7 grapes reserved for nibbles. I've got a pack of cupa a soup in reserve in case I get desperate and was planning either a 2 egg mushroom & onion omelette or a 1 egg mushroom & onion omelette depending on whether or not I have used calories by having the soup. I THINK that should bring me in under the 500 cals so I was hoping I could have another jelly later and perhaps a cup of coffee with one small biscuit before I go to bed.

I'm not ravenous yet and I think that perhaps I would like to join the club if you will have me.

Well, it was supposed to be a free consultation about getting him neutered, and I suppose the vet could have mentioned we'd be charged before she examined him.
We just thought we'd mention it quickly while he was there, but didn't expect to be charged.

You would be more than welcome :)

I know what you mean, I'm sure many people (like me) have been in the docs for an appointment for one child and asked a question about another while sitting there and not thought anything of it.
I spose it stops people from booking free consultations for one thing while actually seeking to get their pet checked out for something else.
Still a heads up would have been nice for you :(

Sounds like you're off to a great start :T
I'm doing my own take on the whole 5:2 thing.
I don't count calories, I'm just making sure I eat no junk on the fast days and try and regulate what I am eating with smaller portions.
I don't know if I'll ever get near the 500 calories, but I figure I'm at least giving it a go and if it works for me, even better :)
