    its probably all the recent searches mate, but saying that ive done over 10 myself in 2 months, and have been granted everything I applied for, so just goes to show that lots of searches don't always affect things.

    ps. you can actually appeal to the lenders of the card you really want that you have been declined for, a computer has been saying no to you, let a human see your credit report etc and you may find you are granted those sexy bits of plastic, don't give up yet.

    That's all I can think of. Still waiting for me Experian details to come through, but Equifax and Callcredit/Noddle are all "clean" - no defaults, fraud flags, incorrect info, defaults or anything.

    Not gone into great detail but I would say (unless Experian has a clanger) that between the three, they haven't even recorded all of these applications.

    There is a certain irony in all this - I "want" the credit to "make money" rather than a "need" for the actual credit - with interest rates so sickeningly low, people are doing anything they can to scrape a little but more bang for their buck, and all the applications I've made are for products that all have something in it for me, be it high interest, cashback or a sign-up bonus.

    i wonder if your address is showing up not in the correct format somewhere, you should be granted instant access to Experian when using there free trial.

    and i was in same boat i don't need any more cc or bank accounts, but i wanted them for balance transfers, cashback, rewards, interest on my current accounts (better then any savings or isa) and cash back on my direct debits.

    Yeah I actually spoke to American Express last week and the woman was fantastic - although she couldn't say anything in addition to their letter, she did say nothing I told her made her think I was in any way a risk, and given I was an existing customer, that I should write in with the details, so I'm waiting for Amex to come back to me.

    I'll probably do the same with Santander too - I've already taken the hit on the credit search so I might as well see if the human agrees with my logic rather than just say "ah well, sod it" and get nowt for the search :beer:

    It's the "online statutory report" I've applied for - I already have Noddle and Equifax accounts so for Noddle the report was free, and for Equifax it was £2 - Experian said they'd send me a login within 3 days.

    Interestingly, when I tried the "statutory" report via Callcredit (rather than Noddle) it couldn't validate my address - so I wonder if there's something in your address thing...

    so you aint signed up for the 30 day free trial with Experian yet? if not try it, but ignore the meaningless score it gives you.

    I've had several free trials so didn't want to sign up again.

    Your problem with an appeal is that the "human" will want/need to make another search.

    So that's 2 credit searches (in quick succession) and possibly still no card!

    In my experience*, Santander make regular guaranteed offers for their 1-2-3 credit card. If you sit tight you may just get one without even making an application! ;)

    * Even though I'm stoozing a £10K O/D facility with them!

    poor chap seems caught in that nasty circles, its either recent searches or at a guess his address is in the wrong format somewhere.
