Is Virginmedia offering me good deal?

In what circumstances is upload speed so important? I appreciate your computer has to tell the world it's ready to accept the next packet of data, but does a slower UL speed impact peer-to-peer stuff, or online streaming or do some of you have particular needs to upload files? In other words, for many of us will it make much difference?

VM are changing the ratio for DL/UL on these new packages,they have dropped the 10-1 ratio and are now on a 20-1 ratio for DL-UL speeds

Mine is 15 to 1 on 30mb, and was 10 to 1 when I was on 120mb.

Check the cost of that package to a new customer on the VM website. Forget free months. If you are getting the same or slightly less than the standard new customer price then that's probably the best you'll get.

It affects loads of stuff. downloading is great but try doing cloud back up with a poor upload speed

if your hosting servers, or sending data to the web, then it will effect that.

otherwise, you wont really notice it

Spoke to VM retentions and now, after paying the year's £120 line rental up-front I'll now be getting a 30meg BB & Phone package for £14.41 per month! Not bad, from £41! :j
