Transferring mobile number between networks

As far as I'm aware no one can stop you from porting numbers but they can charge you if you they want. If the same company does still have a policy of not allowing porting between same network (regardless of whether PAYG to contract) then just find/buy some sim's (preferably not on orange) and port numbers to them instead.Poppy9 wrote:Yes it does. I know when I took out the last cashback contract I could port numbers so long as they weren't from Orange as the new contract was with Orange. I did port the T mobile number over and had my cashback no problems. I will check this out though as I may use a different company this time.0 -
Brill idea. I have two vodaphone PAYG sims so I could port the numbers from them to Orange sims and port the Orange numbers to Vodaphone.
Thanks for your help

Welcome.
It is a bit messing around though so I would check with whatever company you choose and explain to them you are on orange PAYG can I move over to orange contract via them. Personally, I don't see why not as they're gaining a customer who they think was just on PAYG.0 -

Not sure which c/service you would need to ring but I would cancel it with both customer services so you know for sure. You should be able to cancel the porting process upto the day of transfer (the sooner you cancel the better).
Then ask Voda for a PAC code (their number is 08080 945 945) and port your Voda number to the o2 sim (thereby keeping your voda number and losing the o2 number).
If its too late and they can't cancel the current port process then yes just wait until porting is completed and ring Voda for a PAC and then port this to the o2 sim (which at this point would have your virgin number on it).
Does this make sense?
Yup that's great, thanks
One more question: will vodafone be ok giving me a PAC when I haven't really used the sim, do you think?I think we've all arrived at a very special place. Spiritually, ecumenically... grammatically.0 -
They can't stop you from having your PAC code so long as the sim card is still active (ie. they haven't already disconnected you due to non use in the last 6 months)mrsjacksparrow wrote:Yup that's great, thanks

as someone mentioned it's possible to port your existing number to a cashback deal?
Has anyone else been successful and got their cashback without hassle? You'll Never Be Rich Working for Someone Else0
