  • Alfie:beer::beer::beer: good news with the WB that will cost them then:D:D

Rozee.. how long did you have the pigs for??? as there is a movement restriction timescale unless they are going to slaughter. Was it only electric fencing you had?

Before we had the piggies, I tried reading, and asking loads of questions, to the point I was a pain in the butt:D:D. to make sure I got things right, well as right as possible.. even though we could have done the fencing ourselves, it might have ended up being a botch job:cool:. so we pay to have our fencing done properly.. But once its done its done.... I think with electric fencing you got to make sure it doesn't short out, by touching the grass etc..

Do not waste money on registered post; he can always refuse to sign for it.

Two copies sent from different post offices, with free certficates of posting. Consider sufficient for the serving of notice of court action.

One might go AWOL but not two letters.

it was ONE certificate of compulsary work and original had to be signed for . ive got copies..:D

Folk near us decided to have some wee piggies, because their son is hoping to farm. After they'd collected them for the second time from the nearby town, they decided they might have taken on more than their fences could cope with! I'm still trying to work out how they reached town, but there's a bridge across the river on the old traffic-free lane I used a few weeks ago, so it's possible. Doubt if they'd have got that far on the normal road. ;)

Well done Alfie. :A That agent needs a rocket up his @rse; a broom's too good for him!

It's been blowing a lot here and there's been some heavy rain, but the rivers are all still well within bounds. We decided to write off the day and go shopping in Barney, though I think this theme will recur all week. If it does, there's still barn draught proofing to do.

Dry shade gardening is harder than damp shade, Better Days. Been there, done that, and euphorbia robbiae won! Bad for chickens though. Try aster schreiberi.....Oh look, a thread from the past, and the link within the link still works too! :D:D:D

Pity I am not now so sure about going for wood pellets, lir, or your boiler might have lured me up to take a look! I'm still very confused about what we will go for, other than at least one brand new wood burning stove. We're in such a good place for solar PV I feel we can't just ignore that, but panels + a wood stove or two isn't a system, is it? I would go PV + air source heat pump perhaps, but there is only one new floor going in so under floor heating's out. :(

Rhiwfield, you've seen our place, what combination would you go for? Awful question, I know! :rotfl:

There is one air source heat pump on the market adaquate for radiators according to one of the heating people who have been here......cannot remember which but I can give you his website? (Traditional company in your favourite wiltshire town, not new energy, but like many making the switch, He likes these higher temp air source, but we're not interested in them for a different reason.)

Yes, please, always willing to learn. :A There's mixed messages from the firms around here whose sites I've visited. Some imply oversized radiators will suffice, but another, whose site I like the look of, doesn't really push the idea of using rads with them at all.

As Itsme's post reminds us, it's a minefield, especially not knowing who might go bust! :(

Alf, way to go girl! Enjoy Sunday as well with CTC and Rozee.

Dave, just floating a random thought but we all get hooked up on systems nowadays. When we were growing up CH wasnt an option and just maybe it might be better to think in terms of a mix of standalones?? So yes PV, which should eradicate base load and if used wisely will significantly reduce overall leccy use. Surplus generation in shoulder periods can be used to heat leccy rads. One thing I really like about PV is the reliability of the components, much less to go wrong.

In your place I'd be tempted to experiment with self built or low cost solar air. You've got the woodburner (and some free wood supply) which with good insulation will provide much of your heating. I'm left unconvinced on ASHPs atm (but for a new build maybe) but they will prob. be the way forward in a few years time

Not sure I can add much as I know you'll have evaluated the options in far more detail :o
