You 'll almost certainly be able to grow apples. Its what we do in the west and the pretty southerly.. Its not cider orchard country for nothing and much of it is very, very windy.
Our last place was at the top of a hill and very exposed and we had a great orchard, planted from scratch by my parents and dh and i, this is on flat open land and windy and we have apples. Api think you are right to go for dwarfing stock. Fwiw. Our big tree is gonna have to go, as beautiful as it is, the disease is in it, and the fruits no good, were it a little 'un and prune like I have the others, which have improved tremendously.
What about looking for local varieties? Do you have a local orchard to see what does well in your area? We have one just up the road, but the conditions just up the road are so different...sheltered by the big hill and different soil, that its interesting but not useful:)
I'm planning on buying what I like and accepting a failure rate but being guided by what is meant to do well in locality. For example with my pears I was guided away from first choice because its not meant to do well here, then second choices lead to others by pollination type....they'll make it or they will not.0 -
For watching films online try the website megashare, especially good if you don't have Sky and are in to The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones...ok just me

Will give it a try, thank you.
Just finished watching S3 of The Walking Dead - great escapism(although I don't watch the gory bits )
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

bL00DY ENERGY COMPANIES.... putting prices by approx. 8% robbing s@ds!!!1:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: 3 times the rate of inflationWork to live= not live to work0 -
CTC I knew that would happen as I have just managed to cut my usage so of course the prices would shoot up to ensure I don't actually reduce what I pay them :mad::mad:
TV wise we use Virgin and they also supply our broadband, mobiles and home phone. We need to cut back though so I think the TV package is going to go, no more bad TV shows for me
Money we have titchy fruit trees all around our garden and the one that produces the most fruit is the plum tree, it has been prolific this year and a solid supplier in other years. Our soil is clay and often very wet. The trees were put in 5 years ago.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Been choked up with a stinker of a cold that picked up at the hospital.
Pine Marten came back last night & took ten of my young Orps - the last lavender, three black ones - all to be kept, a Scot's Grey & others. I feel really down about this & very quiet today here. Only got a few hens left & only one Scot's Grey female. I can't believe how strong this thing is - it broke a pop hole door in half. There must be more than one coming.
I have a trapped nerve in my neck so what with that & the cold am just cruising really plodding about.
Will catch up with posts later.
Hope evryone is well. It's quite cold here & we had a shake of white on the tops the other day. Torrential rain & gales, but today was dry.
Had a bramble crumble mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm0 -
Choille massive hugs, if I was closer I would bring you lots of cake.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

So.... I go out for a walk, you lot all start chatting and energy prices rise by 8%!!!!
We decided to make the most of the sunny day promised, so off we went to a local nature reserve not too far from a Lidl. (Kill two birds etc.)
This one promised some strenuous climbs, and they weren't joking, but as the fields beside the river were open, I decided to wander through those. DW chose the woodland walk and agreed to meet me half a mile on....
Well, I didn't see any otters, kingfishers or herons, but that was mainly because at every turn I was putting up pheasants and mallard!:o The fields are closed all summer and the animals seemed extra spooked at seeing a hooman bean like me. I may as well have walked along with a boom box blaring. DW even heard all the commotions from the wood!
Anyway, just as I was about to leave the fields, I came upon what looked like a mixed herd of cows and calves, so I was careful not to get between any Mums and babies. They didn't give me any real bother beyond a bit of following. However, when I closed the gate:
Some ladies were inside a hide watching me. They asked "Didn't you read the notice?"
I told them there was no notice at the other end. "Ah yes," they replied, "we said there should be one up there too!"

Thanks for the hugs & cake.
It's as if it waited until they were prime, just reached maturity.
I will catch the wee !!!!er & it will be gone on a long journey............0
