I came up with pages that say the vibration causes bone deformity so, who knows?
Much too scientific for my poor brain :rotfl:
That IS interesting. But why not foals by motorways etc?
Acquired flex urial deformities like that are certainly less common than being born with them ( which straighten out).
I've just sent that abstract to some friends to be food for chat...
Edit...I suppose I should send it to the nimbies here too? Oh dear...0 -

I took the actual link off because Chrome thought there may be Malware associated but it passed OK when I tested it. Just letting you know.
I've found the same information plus more here
http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/2013/horses-get-wind-turbine-syndrome-portugal/
It was certainly very odd that even the 2 foals brought in from outside developed it. Other than some other environmental cause (e.g something recently turning up in the soil, water etc.) I can't think why the problems would suddenly start.0 -

Ok, thanks.
Its particular.y funny because in this group of friends I am the only Iberian fan, all the others are particularly uninamoured of them because of early farriery/ trimming and there is a tendency for some not great trimming I am told. I 've only seen exported Iberians, not Spanish / Portuguese trimmed ones, so not fair to say what I see I'd say is trimming not conformation......but the people I am sending in to have trimmed in Spain and or Portugal and keep begging me not to buy an Iberian for my own sanity!0 -
BD... Just forward thinking, 'IF' in the future, the turbine has permission, and is up and running, and you decided it was time to move from the new property... If it didn't sell, would there be an option for you to re-mortgage and move/buy another place and rent out the house??? also don't base your decision on, that you cant face looking at other houses... Also this turbine might not even get planning...Work to live= not live to work0

Hi All:j
Woke up this morning with a very baddie throat:o and my ears arnt too good either:o:o and I got to go into work:(:( will go in, and see how I feel...Haven't had this type of sore throat in a very long time, youngest had it last week, hubby has had a cold, and someone in work went home yesterday ill.... so it looks as though its doing the rounds.
Alfie, I know its a pain with the bay and final figure fees being added to postages cost... loads of people have been moaning about it on the ebay board.Work to live= not live to work0 -
Ooh-er, CTC, lots of TLC today I think. :coffee:+ biscwits, maybe frequently.;) You've just reminded me, I need to get those jabs booked today!
Better Days, I've looked at the proposed turbine and I don't think it will have much impact on the property you're hoping to buy. You probably won't see it from home, and as the site's over a km away, I doubt if you'll hear anything either, should it get permission.
There was a lot of hoo-hah here about the one closest to us, but now it's built, there's little mention of it. It's only half the height of 'your' one though.
Had a little flutter on Royal Mail shares, though I'm not sure if I agree with the flotation or not. So fed up with rates elsewhere, and no time to sit and cogitate either. :think:0 -
Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly CTC. Sore throats can be so painful. If you are prone to sore throats I find these quite soothing - I take them all through the winter http://www.lambertshealthcare.co.uk/zinc-plus-lozenges-p8284/
Dave and CTC thanks again for your further thoughts on the wind turbine issue, lots to think about. Dave, as you say, there probably isn't going to be much in the way of direct impact on the property, although it is hard to say re noise. It is more the uncertainty if we are trying to sell whilst there is a planning application pending. Not sure about the renting option CTC. At least we do have a lot of equity so we will have some flexibility. We are going to take a drive out today and have a look at the site in relation to the property.
Dave I know what you mean about savings rates - they are dire aren't they? They have gone down substantially in the time that we have been in rented and they weren't that brilliant in the first place. I don't agree with the RM sell off, but then I have a vested interest as DH is a postman. There will almost certainly be redundancies and you can kiss goodbye to universal delivery 6 days a week all over the UK for the price of a stamp. It won't be long before whoever buys RM will be pestering the govt arguing that universal delivery is making the business uncompetitive.
Also plant, machinery and equipment that would otherwise have been replaced hasn't been in the past couple of years. OTOH the consensus of opinion seems to be that RM has been undervalued, so it may well be worth investing in the short term especially as RM owns a lot of land.It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Rhiwi....... when did the bay start to charge a % on the bl**dy postage it costs to send !!!!!!!
that makes it even dearer to post....:mad::mad:
Alf, I think it was early September. They changed insertion fees as well as some FVF % (collectables now 9%). As a business seller I've switched to mainly BINs plus free postage/express postage to meet the new premium seller rules and still make a profit.
Loads of the business sellers are complaining as well but the Bay have us by the short and curlies as other sites just dont have the footflow. But its only fair to report that sales have been strong since we changed format and overall, profit is up.
Lots of you with issues atm, it will soon be that time of year when we look forward to 2014 with the hope of a better year. But to put it all in perspective next year is the centenary of the start of the Great War, we have it easy in comparison.0 -
Oh alf,
I cannot thank you enough, DH has probably got Friday off and if he has he's suggestting that he is going to life the carpet and floor in our bedroom!!!!!!!
I'm so excited! At least we'll know, one way or another, whether we will need carpet in there!0 -
Sorry to hear the dreaded lurgy has reached your part of the world, CTC. Is it a razor blade throat? I hope it doesn't last long. I found the one thing that really helps that is a teaspoon of honey.
I still can't shake the chesty cough. Just hoping I don't end up with another bad chest infection like last year.
I've come to the conclusion that the best thing that could be done if there are problems with turbines & house values/sales is that, within a certain distance from the turbines (I'm still talking more windfarms than individual turbines), the companies should be made to purchase any 'blighted' homes at a fair (as if the turbines weren't there) price. They should have to shoulder more of the risk & not just the profit.0
