Last game series I got into was Mass Effect. Had a couple of weeks off-work, house to myself and played through ME1 & ME2 which I'd bought from a Steam sale months previously, then had to buy ME3 to carry on... not a fan of the ending, but everything else was really enjoyable.

Picked up Bioshock Infinite recently but haven't had a chance to play it yet (or install it for that matter). Was a big fan of the first Bioshock and found the second enjoyable enough but it lacked a lot of the Ayn Rand influence from the first.

Loved Red Dead Redemption on my Xbox. Picked up the DLC for it but haven't had a chance to play that yet either.

Play WoW on and off. Heard they're finally fixing the server population issues in a forthcoming patch so might resub for a month to see how that works out. I never really have the time to do much in game though these days.

Looking forward to the next GTA game.

Also like the Total War games.

Have quite a few on Steam picked up during sales that I haven't had chance to try out yet.

For a newbie to online gaming I would say dip your feet in all the pools.

There's plenty of FTP MMOs, like star trek online. Get yourself on steam and get on multiplayer.

    Myself I like to play:
Bulding games like Civ and Pharaoh (that's an old one)
Warhammer and other strategic games. (again even like civ a bit)
I love to play and mostly play survival horrors, but they're singleplayer so not much online interactivity.
My biggest weakness and love/hate is WoW though, I'm really angry at it right now, but I still go on and hopelessly poke around wasting my game time, because I'll go into RF and remember I hate it.

Def check out steam, almost all PC playable games are on there, and you can check people's comments and reviews - very handy all in one place.

I picked up some old favourites from there like the legacy of kain collection (excluding blood omen I + II) and the tomb raider collection, which was recently DEAD cheap and included the new game.

Don't get sucked into those damn steam sales though! my wallet canne take no more.

    :D

I've started adding my budget to the Steam Wallet when a sale is on.

I find that encourages me to be a bit more picky about what I purchase - much fewer of the "oh, it's only a couple of quid, might be decent..." moments as I start to wait for specific titles to come up on the daily or flash deals. Helps having a set list of games.

Last sale I looked at was the Xmas one last year. Put £50 in my wallet and got every title I wanted and still had a few quid left over that only recently got used on an Alan Wake deal.

Love the old Pharoah and Ceasar games on PC, also CIV (but only CIV III because that one was my first and I can't cope with change!), and theme hospital... I'm a bit old skool.

Was majorly into LOTRO until I had my baby, haven't played since then as I don't think 8 hour plus gaming sessions go well with motherhood - still miss it. For those of you peeved with WoW there's a basic FTP version if you want to give it a try.

Console based I liked the old REvils, and enjoyed LA Noire until the last sequence!

Sigh.. I miss pre baby gaming!

WoW's free-to-play mode is severely restricted - only allowed up to level 20, only allowed 10g, no trade chat, no whispering unless they whisper you first or you're on their friends list. I did try Star Wars but computer was too low spec to run it properly, but that's essentially a pay to do anything game too.

I'd heard about the WoW servers being faux merged, only been screaming for it for 3+ years, I'll likely pick up MoP at some point (it's relatively cheap in HMV) and if it makes 5.4 I'll start again.

I play mainly on the PS3. I love the new Tomb Raider. I have also spent hours (days?) playing Skyrim, Fall out 3 and New Vegas. I do love playing the COD games but not a fan of either of the Black ops.

We have a similar sized collection (I have 283 games currently) wouldn't like to think how much I've spent over the years :o.

I mainly play on consoles, handhelds as well. I play games series like Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Elder Scrolls (on PC as well), Assassin's Creed, Dragon Age, Bioshock, Dead Space, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Tomb Raider and um, Lego Star Wars :p.

PS3 for me, I have just finished Kingdoms of Amalur the Reckoning, thought it was a fantastic game. OH is currently playing Skyrim.

Does anyone know of any games that are like KOA? Someone has recommended Dragon Age and Dragons Dogma.

I think you would enjoy the Dragon Age games if you like KOA (I played that on Xbox) and the Elder Scrolls games like Skyrim and Morrowind which are pretty amazing especially on PC.
