You don't need to unplug it, just press and hold the power button until the power indicator turns red.
Maybe record the noise its making on your mobile and play it back when you ring Sky.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Just sounds like a fan, and a hard drive, and a light sleeper to me, all perfectly normal and I don't know what you want Sky to do when you phone. If the hard drive has got louder (scratchy or clicky) it could be about to break, but don't test this when you've just been woken in the middle of the night as your ears will be more sensitive. Make sure you've got the latest sky software (Sky logo should be top left in the planner/guide) and do as penrhyn says above.0

I am a Sky user. Box was installed recently in my bedroom. During the middle of the night the hard drive starts up inside and you can hear it along with the fan on standby when nothing is recording. This is really annoying. Is there a fault with my box?
Advice will be appreciated. Has anyone else had the same problem?
Thanks
I have had two Sky+HD boxes and both do exactly what you describe, although it can happen at other times as well and not just in the middle of the night.
With the first box I thought it was a fault, but when I got the second box and it did the same thing, then I think it maybe normal.0 -
Mine does the same, you can put it into deep sleep mode my holding the on off button on the remote for about 5 seconds, the light will go red instead of the usual standby orange and it won't make a sound.0

I have the box in my bedroom only in standby at night, it has never disturbed my rest.0

Thats not helpful really. Its just like unplugging as you have to wait for it to reboot! But thanks for the suggestion, I may use this actually, saves me from pulling a cable out with the tap of a button. Will try tonight and let you know. The good thing is, once its rebooted it goes back to the channel you were watching.
Thanks:)Save money, get the things you want! Blow it all, regret it!0
