Hi Savers!
I am a Sky user. Box was installed recently in my bedroom. During the middle of the night the hard drive starts up inside and you can hear it along with the fan on standby when nothing is recording. This is really annoying. Is there a fault with my box?
Advice will be appreciated. Has anyone else had the same problem?
Thanks

Could it be updating On Demand content? I'm not 100% sure but isn't some of sent to the box via the satellite the same way Anytime used to be?0

Make sure there are no obvious obstructions to air flow around the box and move it away from your earshot if possible.0

Ok... No obstructions, the box has a lot of space around it. Also it's around 3 meters away from me. Also forgot to mention sometimes makes a small grinding noise, something like a hair clipper machine cutting through someone hair. Its only small this sound.Save money, get the things you want! Probably checking for updates, my Freesat box does it every night at 3 am.
No idea about the new sky stuff but my old one would record the saved stuff whilst in standby at night, you could turn that off but you would then not have any saved stuff on your hard drive to watch.
If all else fails, just unplug it at night, you will need to manually check for updates though, it'll mean no more noises at night and the added benefit of saving a bit of money, as even in standby a sky box uses a fair bit of power.0 -

Hmmm tried unplugging it a few nights. But to be honest I can't be bothered every night. Also if I want to watch TV I need to wait for it to boot up! If it ends up driving me insane, I call Sky.
