Sorry, you obviously didn't see my post of a couple of weeks ago, Cribbs is one to definitely avoid xx

Think I mentioned avoiding SS at Cribbs too. There seems to be some old trouts there.

    Hi all

I have been reading this thread and have a few vouchers so thought I would try it out. Just wanted to let you all now that Boots in Nottingham (Victoria centre) have been told to look out for people using the vouchers in this way. I was purchasing a light coverage foundation and bronzing pearls, plus a body lotion that I needed and so I had another purchase. I used the two glossy vouchers, was about to scan the SS and the self service assistant told me I wasn't allowed to do it. She said the manager has been quite harsh on them and they are now getting into trouble. She said that using the two glossys was fine but I couldn' use the other too. She aslo said that the SS tills will be updated soon so this can no loger happen but I dont know how true that is. She was actually really nice about it, just doing her job. I apologised and simply said I wasn't aware I couldnt use all 3 as they are different vouchers. In the end I paid around £8 for all three items (total value £21.50) so I'm still happy :j

Pleased with my haul today, I got two BB creams (I'll give these to my mum, they're a bit dark for me!) and another tinted moisturiser for £3.42.
    Thanks to all who've contributed!

    Hi,
I tried 2 BB creams and a mascara plus free ballet purse and failed miserably! The ss till wouldn't scan the ss spit voucher and in the end the assistant came over and sent me to a manned till. They said I couldn't use the glossy and the till spit, I queried saying my mum had used both the day before as the assistant said if the till accepts it, it's fine. No can do, so I paid £11.42 for the two BB creams then in a separate transaction £7.95 for the mascara and ballet purse. Think maybe I should have skincare as my third item or maybe something slightly lower priced than the BB cream instead of the same price! Oh well!

I hope the tills aren't going to be updated as I cannot get to a ss one until Saturday and I've got 7 transactions to do!!!(2 at a time then leave the shop and go back later to do another 2 and so on so I'm not at the ss tills for a long time). I wonder if this is really true or if the staff have been told to tell us that. If the tills could be updated why weren't they updated after the last glitch so that it didn't happen again? I think (hope) it's an empty threat. What does everyone else think?

I suspect it's an empty threat from the store managers.

I don't see how head office wouldn't have noticed the glitch previously, and fixed it. So I'm 99% sure it's a marketing ploy on their behalf, that they like to keep on the downlow.

However, it probably still reduces a stores individual sales, which they won't like as they have targets to hit.

Probably an empty threat I expect, we've been hearing all sorts of things, there's no continuity.

I'm trying this for the first time after work

Gonna get one BB cream and one nail polish - I'll get some other items to cover the shortfall - does the SS till really spit out money for nothing?

I'm really not sure. I think it will probably take a while to update the software, and will take even longer to implement nationwide so I think it's just a case of sales assistants keeping watch for now (if they have been told by a manager). I did say to the sales assistant that people are going to work the offeres to their benefit, and try to pay the least amount of money they can, especially if they aren't aware that they aren't supposed to! She actually agreed and tbh I think she felt quite bad approaching me.

Thats probably true. Maybe the number 7 counters are classed as seperate concessions too. That would mean they have their own targets etc so the individual stores don't want it happening, but head office do.

There must be a reason these offeres are always on. I know that I don't ever buy number 7 make up or skin care until the vouchers are about, as I think they are overpriced for the quality.
