Gonna get one BB cream and one nail polish - I'll get some other items to cover the shortfall - does the SS till really spit out money for nothing?

They certainly do.. Highly embarrassing if someone on till next t u sees u scan vouchers and get cash out lol

Well what a day I have had, just as I was feeling brave to try this glitch. I went to a store futher away and used (or tried to use) the SS till. I was purchasing one skin care item and using £5 glossy. As I was standing in the queue I noticed the SA standing in front of me guarding the 3 SS tills like a hawk. Another SA walked over and whispered to her and they both turned around and looked at what I had in my hand. I wasn't glitching so I wasn't too bothered but it seems they are watching everyone now.

I tried to scan my item and it wouldn't scan, it kept saying unexpected item in bagging area approval needed. SA came over and tried to scan my item but then the till froze. She said I will take you over here on the manned till (I was hoping for my first till spit but I was going back to purchase same item again with my new £5 off voucher which I was pleased about).

I went back and used the SS till to purchase same item again (SA still guarding tills) and got a till spit. I didn't dare go back to the SS till so I left the store and went to my local store. I got 2 BB creams and a day cream, went upstairs. I handed over my till spit and then the £3 voucher (I had no more £5 glossys but don't think I would have chanced handing over 3) total to pay £8.42. Not as good of a bargain as most of you here but I would have been happy just to use the till spit as £8 comes off. :)

I'm really not sure. I think it will probably take a while to update the software, and will take even longer to implement nationwide.

No, it doesn't. They could update the software in a couple of hours, and update the systems nationwide on an overnight update. I worked for a head office of a different chain store before.

Believe me, they could rectify very quickly if they wanted to.

    there won't be much of a shortfall - BB cream £12.95, nail polish £6 (£3 bogohp) = £15.95. £16 in vouchers = till owes you 5p.

A normal checkout may only allow you to use the £5 half of your glossy so really better to try to use a SS till.

Your example would work as follows.
    BB cream is 12.95
Bronzer is 11.50 this would be 1/2 price = 5.75
not sure how much nail varnish is but (assuming it is less than bronzer) it would be full price if buying 3 items.
Then deduct £8 from total making £10.70 + full cost of nail polish.

Better to buy those same 3 items and another bronzer/tinted moisturiser/bronzing pearls. You would do better as the bronzer/tinted moisturiser/bronzing pearls would be free on 3 for 2 and the nail polish 1/2 price on BOGOHP in addition to the 1/2 price bronzer then less £8 so you would pay less overall - £10.70 + 1/2 cost of nail polish.

A tillspit in addition to the glossy would reduce the £10.70 to £2.70 in both the examples.

Thanks for your advice and thanks to everyone who replied... I must be having a really blonde moment as I'm still not quite with it - how much would I pay if I got the following?

    2 x mosaic bronzer
    1 x BB cream

with just using the £8 glossies and also how much would I pay if I managed to womble or get a till spit? I am so desperate for some of the mosaic bronzer I will have to get some glitch or not but would prefer glitch :rotfl: Having said that, I have just been reading the earlier posts and Victoria Centre Nottingham is the only store locally with a SS till so it was there I was going to try - bit scared to now!!! Would the SA on the SS tills not interrupt if I got quite a few other bits and pieces to disguise it? Help!!!

I presume you mean see post 441 which refers to negative balances. This is a free forum and people can do what they want. I have done 2 transactions in the last 2 days at manned tills with no problems. Lets not get paranoid. Boots dont care as long as we go in and buy. Anybody noticed the bronzers seem to be in short supply. They are obviously clearing stock so knock yourselves out and keep vouchering

My point wasn't for the accidental ones but in general. :) I keep reading about trouts in these stores and would hate for others especially newbies to miss out because someone else drew too much attention to it. :) Don't want Boots becoming like Tesco lol.

And thank you to those mentioning where they have SAs watching. It helps the rest of us avoid that place. :) I have been twice now I think but 2 different places and to be honest they could have been alerted so I'm a bit wary to go back in case it is a long wasted trip.

Broadmarsh has ss tills (brilliant new ones where you drop the voucher into the slot, you don't have to poke the sides :D) - so does Riverside.

1 BB cream and 2 bronzers would be £18.70, so if you have glossies only thats £8 off the total = £10.70 to pay. If you get a tillspit to add to your glossies thats £16 off the total, so £2.70 to pay.

Yes. It does. I tried my first transaction on this glitch and ss gave me another voucher. Happy glitching....
