This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning TTFTM & all who cross/follow
Dull here again today, but not too cold.
Halight I hope you slept better, Molly I hope things are well with you, hugs to anyone else in need.
Off to work soon, I have composed an email with a list of all the changes I am supposed to make & the reasons the changes haven't been made, ie Boxes must be moved to new cupboard, cupboard still not built yet. I'm emailing this list once a week to my line manager. It won't save my job in the long term, but it will cause a few problems higher up, lol.
I have a huge order of booklets to be produced by 20th of this month & TPTB won't order the paper, so that will be added to the list now.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning everyone
Dull and grey here so overnight washing will be sitting in the machine until I get home and sort it out.
Hester - it really sounds like you work for a group of eejits. Is this all deliberate to try and drive people out?
Halight - I hope your early morning absence means you managed to get a good night's sleep?
DH was paid for first lot of exam marking yesterday so that money has gone into our emergency/endowment shortfall fund. Some is earmarked for insurance payments next month but it may as well sit in account and make a couple of pennies in interest.
DH is performing tonight so quick dinners again of omelette and salad. More salads for lunch. I lost another 2.35 kg this week so 5 kg or 11 lb total now, which has made me happy. A long way to go but I have made a good start.
Need to get dressed and run so it's usual well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good Morning TTFTM and all who follow,up with the lark this morning. My neighbours have a dog that bless him,;) barks first thing in the morning to be let out and consequently I never need an alarm clock as the blooming thing wakes me everyday
I am one of those folk that once my eyes are open I must get up:) so I have been down stairs and am sitting here with my engine purring away (A cup of coffee get my motor running very smoothly first thing in the morning:):))
This morning I shall be climbing Mount Ironmore and hopefully getting it done, dusted and put away.I had to go to the local Range yesterday to get two square cake boards for my DGD Holly as she is baking a 21st cake for her BF I was suprised at how expensive they were a fiver for two square bits of cardboard covered in silver stuff. If it had been me I would have found a couple of square bits and covered them in foil ,but there is the almost 50 years difference in ideas. She was happy to cough up a fiver, whereas I would think twice, after all they will end up in the bin eventually(unless I get them off her for a later date perhaps, after using and cleaning I could then cover them in foil for Christmas baking:):))
There are times youngsters seem to have very little idea of the value of money:) To me its just binning a fiver
:)
Well after the ironing I want to sit and watch some catch-up t.v.Jack and Henry come to my house after school as the youngest Michael will be at football club at his school until 4.30 so his two brothers arrive for bacon sarnies about 3.15:) and then we pick Mikey up when his club has finished, saves me a double run in the car as I can then take them all back to their house afterwards.
So when I go off to do the school run this morning I will go a bit earlier so I can prep the veg for their dinner tonight and make sure all the breakfast things are washed and the kitchen tidied before I take Mikey to school.
We all run like a well-oiled maching during the week, and the boys have their jobs to do and are good lads.A bacon sarnie this afternoon means that one will hoover round when we get to their house, and the other will go round all the bedrooms bringing down the washing for tomorrows wash and tidying up.
The youngest one will make sure all the packed lunch boxes are in the kitchen and emptied and also any gym kit is in the wash basket. The eldest lad ben is very good and sorts out the windows for cleaning and the garden for mowing .he is my 'outside man':) With four boys and both their parents working its the only way to keep on top of things .The boys are very good and will do little jobs for me without complaining.By the time they are grown up they will be fully trained in taking care of both themselves and the house .So at some point in the future when they marry I hope their wives will be pleased at their old Granny's training
:):
Looking out of the window its looking a bit damp at the moment and cloudy but its not cold at least
Time to get a shift on though as I want to have my shower and breakfast as I have to be out by 7.40 at the latest
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -

My wife's Mum,
Dose a lot of Cake baking and icing art, decorating, For people.
Wedding cakes, birthday's that sort of thing. And all of the bits that you need use, Are very expensive !
She charges a lot for the cake's she dose, But when you look at the time that's had to go into it and the cost of all the bits, You can see why the people that do it for a living have to charge so much for the cake's,
My wife's Mum only dose it as a hobby really , And only charges just enough to cover the stuff she needs to do the cake, (She only make's them for people she know's and has done some word of mouth one's ) (Some will give her a "Drink" On top of the cost of the cake.)
I could not believe the cost of the stuff when I first found out !:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Morning
Very grey here this morning hopefully it will brighten up
JO. The cake boards are a ridiculous price  I made 4 small Xmas cakes last year and the cake boards for them would cost almost £10  I ended buying a much bigger one for much less and chopping it into 4 and wrapping them in foil , worked a treat
Dd1 is coming home from uni tomorrow for the summer :j:j going to pick her up tomorrow and help her pack ,I've got some big cardboard boxes at the ready
Off to work in a mo , have a good day everyone xx0 -

Morning everyone
Bad night here between kids and dog disturbing me. H was home poorly yesterday but he's dragged himself off to Bath this morning looking a bit greenDS is currently whining and trying to get out of going to school <rolls eyes> dunno what's up with these kids at the moment, DD is uber sensitive and cries at the drop of a hat and DS is constantly competing with DD <sigh>
Anyway everyone is in relatively good health so I guess I should be grateful for that.
Got to walk Luna after school run as my parents are away so my dad who walks their lab and mine isn't available. Then I am giving a friend a driving lesson, she's having paid lessons but once a week isn't enough and she needs more practice. Been a long time since I've given a driving lesson, H was the last person I started teaching
Rest of the day will be usual housework, BM needs to go on etc.
Not sure what's for tea, especially is H is feeling sick, suspect he won't want anything.
Hugs and spoons all round xx
Hester what a bunch of knobs.....but then I've thought that about where you work for a long time
Halight sorry you didn't sleep so well x
JackieO I buy cake boards when I am making cakes. Yes they're not cheap but we normally get more than one use out if it. Normal cardboard I don't find thick enough to support a fondant iced cake and if its not stable then the icing will crack.
Laters peeps
PS. I have been a bit hit and miss posting but haven't noticed Bargainbird around lately, hope she's OK xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
