Hi! I've just been reading your diary, well done so far! I'm new and have been lurking a while. So hello, and good luck on the journey :)

  • Thanks HAW, I am a massive fan of pasta so no problems with adding that to anything!

Hi Bex, thanks very much, good luck to you too!

I woke up really blue again yesterday thinking I have made an awful mistake about quitting work without a new job lined up, but I managed to pull myself out of the whole by doing some research online into a few things I am interested in. I feel much more positive now and know it is going to be hard work, but hey what isn't?!

Work front, I am looking forward to leaving this one but have been offered the possibility of coming back part time (perm not temp) and have accepted. There is no guarantee and it might only be a week. I only accepted as someone else is going to be here doing my current role and mentally it will be better knowing it is not full time, it is all money in the pot and gives me time to look elsewhere.

One of the blogs I was reading about yesterday was about a woman who hated her admin, making tea, typing job too and quit. She worked out how much she had to make a day to get by, it was around £30 I think, she did it through odd jobs, part time, helping friends etc. I like this idea, so while/when not working my aim is to make £20 a day minimum, 7 days a week. This will be either part time, e-baying, returning stuff :o, dog walking, whatever it takes. Even if it is a stupid idea, hell, why not try!!

Still feel weird after last week, and I know it takes a while to feel even slightly 'normal' again after a trip to the bottom of the well, but I have a doc's app next week and a lovely weekend to myself to look forward too. No holds barred this weekend, I am going to allow as much cake as possible :D num num num

  • Hi, I've just read through and subscribed to your diary. Well done on quitting a job that was making you feel awful - I did it once and it was the best thing I ever did. Have a lovely weekend,
    Iris.
  • Ah thanks Iris and Hello!

Got a lovely surprise when I got home last night from the water company, a nice bill for £247 :eek:

Well that teaches me for not setting up a DD. I think this bill cover 4-5 months, so it's not awful but will have to check later.

Anyway, feeling good today, paid off some bills, checked the home account, did some calculations and I will have enough for NOV bills which is a relief and some of Dec.

Rubbish day at work but hey that's why I am leaving-ish. Part time next week, around 16 hours.

    :)

  • Right well it is my last 'official' day at work, I am grateful of the possibility of part time work but I am SO ready to leave and it doesn't quite feel as good knowing I will be coming back!!

Anyhoo, not a great day of work planned, but once it's done it will be home time. I have to electric heaters on keeping me nice and toasty which is a treat, I dread to think of the electric bill here! I also brought my charger in so I can charge my phone and ipod here, cheeky :p

Friday = payday. As I only worked a few hours last week it was not a good payday, but anything with a plus before it on the bank account has to be a good thing!!!

    Finance update.
OCT: All bills are paid and I have a healthy savings pot, haven't gone mental on buying things and some stuff I ordered online, will mostly get sent back next month. :)

NOV: Home account has enough money to cover all Nov home bills.
CC - just paid one min payment for Nov (will be min payments until a proper job is got). The second min payment will come out of the second week's pay packet from the promised work next week.
So that is all the bills covered.
Savings - £500. Although I saved this up for the purpose of using if I had to quit my job, or got fired ;) I am loathed to use it. I have NEVER EVER saved more than £50 before. I am awfully proud of myself, even though I have used the credit card, in my head it makes sense!!

Will be popping into Tesco's tonight for epic cake buying for my lovely weekend, ah can't wait!!!

I hope everyone has lovely weekend's planned too

  • Ouch to the bill!

Would agree with the min payments on the cc until such time as you can afford to pay more.

:T to the savings! I know exactly how you feel! Used to transfer £50 into a savings account every payday, then transferred it back out again before the month was up coz I needed it! Until such time as I was out of debt I couldn't hold any savings at all. Now I can. And it feels GOOD!!!

Hope today is a happy Friday! :)

  • Ah I bet that feels good HAW, I can't wait for the day to be debt free AND have savings!! One day!

Today is indeed happy Friday. I have just tidied my 'office' and it feels much nicer in here, it will also be less embarrassing next week when I show the new person around! Sun is shining and only 3 hours until home time!! Whoop whoop!

Going to do a small to do lost for the weekend later, so will write a few things down here so I don't forget:
Find out how much to re-sole shoes and re-heel boots
    Clear out back porch
Sort ebay stuff and put some stuff on ebay
Get mud out of work trousers
    Apply for jobs!

I have had a misfortunate week in regards to clothing! I have worn through my lovely leather loathers that I wear for work, both heals fell off my flat boots the other day, my trainers are too small with socks, I fell over in a large mud puddle in front of the bus the other day:o, trousers covered in mud, 2 pairs of leggings have ripped in the inside seam :(.

I only have one pair of shoes, one pair of boots, my summer trainers and two pair of 'running' trainers, oh and flip flops and wellies. I am told I am not normal and I should have more footwear!! :rotfl:

I also only have one pair of work trousers. I like being this minimal as it gives me less to think about when getting ready :D but not good when they all give up at once!!

  • It does feel good. Well worth the hard slog ;):) Stick at it :D

Today's weather has turned out well

I can sympathise with the footwear. For the first 20 years of my life I had one pair of trainers and one pair of black shoes. That was it! lol :o
Thankfully now I've a few more pairs to my name of various shapes, styles and colours, but sometimes I still struggle to find the 'right' pair to wear with what I'm wearing :p
Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out

  • Well I am crawling back out of the wood work, worse off than before moneywise, but a lot has happened since my last post!

    Quick catch up:

I showed the new lady around and worked part time that week in the 'hellhole' office, on the Friday she was offered a better job somewhere elsestarting the following Monday, I was expected to just go back to full time andbe in at 7.30 on the Monday....err well safe to say I just didn't go back. Ididn't feel bad because the guy was a complete ******. I was happy to have leftand make the decision but the job had got me quite down and I struggledafterwards to get back to happy again. I was only out of work for just over aweek and started temping at an awesome company much closer to home (for lessmoolah tho :() but this meant 2 weeks ofnot being paid and I quickly used up my savings on bills, food and travel.

    Then it was Christmas.....

Then I never started up taking care of my money weekly again, it all justhappened, I missed bills and used my cards to get through.

Then I was offered a perm position in Feb (for the same money , boo!) but itwas a job that I had no experience in and I really wanted to do, creative, fun, working with my peers and no admin!!! But I went from weekly to monthly andthis royally messed me up!

Then in June I was made redundant :( erghh... I was allowedto leave straight away and they only had to pay me for 5 days but they ended uppaying me for 8 :)

Two weeks out of work and I am temping again for more money :)

In that time my credit cards have constantly been at their limit, we havereceived ridiculous bills for electric and high gas bill and they are demandingI pay it all off at once or they will add £350 or so on top of it .

But I am feeling positive and more able to deal with this. I have been fiddling with my money spread sheet for a couple of weeks now but now feel like I have got it right and had to get an expensive birthday weekend out of the way 1st too.

Bit long, sorry about that. Off to find an SOA thingy to fill out, make a list of money plans and update my sig :)
