This is my 1st post, so here goes; I would appreciate some advice as a very un techie.
I have a BT line only and surf and email through tesco.net on a PAYG non broadband basis.
According to their site tesco.net provide me with Internet Explorer to surf and Outlook Express to send and receive emails.
As I now surf a lot more I am finding this too expensive, so would like to have BB with NewNet, have learned that it is best to have a universal email address in case I need to shift ISP’s, so have chosen G-mail and also through other comment/ postings on MSE intend to use an Orchid Dialer for calls.
I need advice on how to inform tesco.net of my departure as well as how to set up these 3 new services and in what sequence.
I know requiring this level of advice might sound pathetic but my current system was set up by my daughters in 1999 and I am still a learner technically. So if any kind watchers care to advise could they please spell it out in novice language and I should be extremely grateful.
Regards

Don't think you have to notify anyone for not using dialup, infact I would keep it as a backup.According to their site tesco.net provide me with Internet Explorer to surf and Outlook Express
No Bill Gates does, it comes with Microsoft Windows.
You may still be able to use your Tesco internet Email address when using another ISP, although I can't be sure about Tesco as I have never had an account but I do it with Virgin and Freeserve and have done for years and niether are my ISP.
Have you seen this thread:

Internet access via dial-up on a geographic number: 020 8114 9845
Use any username and password to log in
Calls billed at 0p/min by 18185, 1899
Calls usually included in bundles offering free nationwide calls
Calls usually part of inclusive minutes for mobile users - cheaper than GPRS!
No catch, no subscription, no need even to register

To sign up for Broadband just select an ISP and phone them up or do it over the net, I would rather phone up myself so I can ask any questions I may want answers to. They will charge you a connection fee and that can be around £50 but once on ADSL if you want to change after you are out of contract you get a MAC from the ISP and you can move for free with no connection charge. If you canceled the service and moved you would have to pay another connection charge.
Oh, and welcome to MSE.0 -
Many thanks Brit Brat for your time and effort especially your tip about
Geo ISP
Thanks again
