if you go to http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1053251952,43275 - you will see a list of cheapest unmetered ISPs... the cheapest being Zaggle at £6.99 per month which includes 60 hours usage a month - though I looked at their site and they are currently offering it for £5.99, or 100 hours usage for £6.99.... should help cut your costs for you, and give you more time online
hopefully this may be of some use to you0 -
Thanks Dave. This is the information I was looking for. Where did you get it from out of interest?Since the price went up last November around £7 - £8 per month
In any case, both the 0845 and 0844 numbers are eligible for BT's Friends & Family Discount. I don't know whether Primus has a similar discount scheme, but if you make the dial-up number your BestFriend you will get 20% off. As you have CPS you can do this by changing the settings on your PC so that it calls 1280 prefix before the number.
Note: You must have your computer dial the 1280 prefix else your call will go via Primus!0 -
Thanks for all your help and advice Dave and MrJ. First thing I'm going to do is try the old 0845 number then if that works I'm going to route the calls via BT using the 1280 prefix and make the number my 'best friend'.
If the 0845 number no longer works then I'm going to switch my isp to a better value one.0 -

it has been reported on here that people are being charged for it as a data call though, which means that you still pay the same rate, and cannot pay something like 5p for an hour0

Not when I tested it.
Date Time Tel No Length Cost 14-04-2007 17:49:50 02081149845 0:05:17 0.0500
You have to use this number : 1899 020 8114 9845
Or this one : 18185 020 8114 98450 -
