Question one yes seen them and others type in the IMEI search code.

Sticker and internal IMEI code can be changed with the correct tools .Sticker fakes are not something that would be home produced though .

Sim Card does not give IMEI .

You lost your phone and contacted your network who blocked its IMEI and also you contacted the police in case it was found and handed in .

What model phone did you loose and why did you think the one in the window was yours .

You are being rude. And are you simple? I have quoted what Rusty and pd3 said twice already. Here's it is a third time...

Talking of simple things, why won't you answer a simple question?

For the 3rd or 4th time.

Why or what made you think the phone in CEX was your lost phone?

Now I've been getting distracted dealing with trolls. My OP question was...

When CeX buys a phone have you seen the staff type in *#06# ?

May I also ask pb3 to clarify or to anyone else if they have sold a phone to CeX?
and at the time CeX did not type in *#06# ?

Aimed at me? It's not rude, maybe blunt but it had to be said.
You are purposefully avoiding answering a simple question.

Why do you think it was your phone?

Whether a member of staff typed in the number to get an IMEI is neither here nor there, your lost phone is worth a tenner, no thief is going to change the IMEI for that, and neither are the employees of cex. It's pointless.

So,iI'll ask again, what made you think the phone you seen was yours?

I get the feeling the OP doesn't want to say why they thought the phone was theirs....

Any decent phone thief will change the IMEI anyway, illegal but then so is theft.

It gets worse. About Vodafone, how many times do i have to say to timewasting trolls in this thread that VF customer service wouldn't tell me my IMEI?

You wrote earlier that you already know your phone's IMEI.

I lost my phone then found it in their window. CeX grabbed the phone from the window display and we compared the sticker IMEI with my IMEI. That was Sunday.

Today it occurred to me the sticker could have been replaced so I went to CeX but they annoyingly wouldn't do anything :sad:

So then later i wondered if anyone had seen them actually check the motherboard by typing *#06# .

We go together to the shop and the police officer says data protection act so i can't see number he can and it looks like he types in *#06# and compares it to my IMEI and says its not like mine.

So, your IMEI doesn't match that of the phone (*#06#) or its sticker?

Don't you think it's time to give up on this?

Why don't you buy the handset from CEX?

So to begin with, a couple of posts have been reported to the forum moderators that were posted on Tues 11 and Thursday 13 June that I should have reported to the moderators when I saw them on Saturday 15. Although the posts become more trollish later on after post #32.

I would like to report this thread or post because...

    "So answer the bloody questions
    are you a bit simple"

Posters asking repeated and clueless questions displaying hypocrisy. Posters will not read page 1. Continual harrassment/bullying. Bullying increases further down page 2.

If they wanted to drive me away because they disagreed with me, well its worked to some extent, and wind me up and undermine my confidence until i could rebuild it.

Page 1 was generally good with helpful responses but I suspect on page 2 there are people from the retail trade so their livelihoods are affected - vested interests. In fact I happened to have mention to a CeX clerk I was posting on MSE. It seems once I had shown I got a policeman be helpful the trolls came out to try to upset me.

I didn't look at page 2 for a few days after my last Thursday because I expected the responses would be aimed simply to bring me down.

It's a shame the positive posters didn't stand up for me.

Not all trolls are created equal. While some trolls find it amusing to wind up another person until that person has a meltdown, others may not even realize that their behavior is disruptive. Sometimes, people are simply rude and aggressive without trying to behave like a troll -- particularly if they disagree with the subject of a conversation. You may have even behaved like a troll unintentionally.

    http://computer.howstuffworks.com/troll1.htm
ask clueless questions until the discussion collapses as a result. These trolls often attempt to present themselves in a sympathetic light.

•Sneaky trolls will sometimes pose as people who are genuinely interested in the topic before posting a message that undermines the discussion. This is common in political forums -- a person with opposing views might pretend to be sympathetic to other members in the community while simultaneously posting messages and threads that criticize their point of view.

Colluding trolls are people who work together to create chaos.
These trolls in disguise can publicly defend the obvious troll and claim that the troll is really trying to add to the
    discussion.
