i love my stove, and far from it being a fanciful modern statement piece as they seem to have become now, it is a real workhorse out here in the country (no gas, no oil).
But my god im so pleased to have stopped running it now thats its warm enough. Anyone else in the same boat :P

Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

Running it is the best bit!
Having to split, stack and store the wood is the annoying bit.
Although i will admit that using the axe does introduce a bit of "manliness" back into life...

We're still getting orders and enquiries for briquettes - in June!! Don't know whether it's people planning ahead or buying to use now - but it's certainly odd!0

I can't wait for it to get cold again so I can fire it back up

Thinking about ordering a cubic metre of logs to stack up ready for next year.0 -
I admit to some sense of relief though, damnit, it's almost cold enough to re-light it some evenings!
Time to get the chimney swept and order both coal and logs before the usual Autumn price hikes, though.0 -

I got something from CPL in the post with their summer sales patter.
It also states they expect prices to go up in September due to the closure of a site (i forget which).
I think it stated an expected rise of £20 per 500KG's but i might be wrong.0 -

I'm in the planning ahead stage so i've got my wood stacked for this coming winter and hopefully at least part of next winter.
I was looking at ordering some briquettes in the next 2 months.
Have the prices markedly changed since we last spoke?
I've noticed some of the suppliers don't even have any available at the moment, which seems a bit odd.0 -

Amusingly, I have discovered that a local garage sells smokeless cheaper by the bag than Corralls' 'summer prices' and 'per tonne rate'. The laugh is that Corralls actually supplies the local garage in question.
Dunno about investigations into the oil companies. Investigations are long overdue into both oil and solid fuel prices!0 -
Agree with alleycat - running it is the best bit!
We are still running ours even now, keeping the chill off and
Using it for the kettle etc0 -
Log store is full for the next three years, all sourced FOC by me, just letting the sun/wind etc do it's thing and get the chimney swept ready for it to go back on again! Can't wait!0

I enjoy my stove but yes it is nice when its not running means I have some spare time to do the jobs I had no time for in the winter. The worst part about the stove is splitting your own wood, its great fun for the first hour or so good to be outside etc but it soon become bard work with all the stacking etc. Good to see a pile of woood at the end of the day though, then its time to sweep my own chimney normally the most neglected of all !0
