Had the same model with the same problem, turned out to be overheating when used on my lap. Cured it by using air duster in the vents, never realised it would be so dusty, now using a base with a fan.

If I am right in saying you can be on the laptop all day, as long as you only use the mouse and don't touch the keyboard, I can't see how it can be an overheating issue. While it's no bad thing to get rid of dust build up it seems unlikely it will cure your particular problem.

Are you saying your husband can use this actual laptop by typing with one finger and it won't shutdown?

    Yes 2.20.

Yes hubby can you it with one finger browsing and he's fine, whereas as I type for longer, sentences and paragraphs etc. he just browses and tap things

what do you mean by shutdown, turn off instantly or shutdown

you have booted it up, with the battery not fitted, and it still does it?

does safe mode work, F8 at boot

you husband uses it with no probem at all?

I turn it on, it starts up, I go into whatever (Internet, email, word) as soon as I start typing it goes to sleep/hibernates. I hold down the on button and it goes to the page I was just on. I carry on trying to type and it shuts down again. Hubby goes on just does one finger clicking / browsing and it doesn't do it

    safe mode?

the definition of shutdown is confusing, is it suspend, or hibernate, or shutdown, or crash, or switch off

    battery is out?

    had any spillages?

    husband using same account?

if husband types does it do the same

is the keyboard flat, and well seated

where on the keyboard do you press to make it happen, any letter in any program, one letter, or a group of letters

if you dont type, does it work
