i like this, am really trying to not spend, so got a lift to work and walked home, took me 45 mins, felt sick as i'm so unfit and didn't expect it to be as hot, a saving of £2.50, going over the park now with the grandchildren so that will keep their mind of eating everything in sight before dinner. Really like hearing everyone's comments, must watch that programme on catch up tonight.0

Morning money savers....
It looks a nice day here in Hampshire. Just waiting to peg the daily washing on the line.
Checked to see what I can unplug now a person has gone out, sure enough plugs left using electric all day for nothing
This is partly how I have become a low fuel user.
I have made a list of what is in the freezer. Not a hugh list but enough food for now. It is strange how some weeks I strugle to put food in the freezer because I have bought to much and other weeks when the supplies get down their is plenty of room. I have one 5ft tall freezer.
I was ment to be going to the cinima tonight to see Spike Island for free with Virgin media free ticketsBUT with no car and him indoors does not want to go, I guess not
he has a car and the cinima is a few towns away.

good advice- We got a electricity monitor from our utilities supplier and it told you in pence how much electricity we were using. Sadly it now longer works but when it did it was fascinating to see how much was being used. We used to send the kids on a mission round the house to see what needed turning off. Some things were a relevation, the day it the moniter was at around £1 the highest it had ever been, I went racing upstairs to where son had been having a sleepover with mates and they were on the xbox. I discovered husband using (electric) shower and it was that with the high usage cost. :eek:0

Morning Spendless.
I love my "OWL" moniter. I have had it a wile and it sits right next to my desk top computer. A very handy place as I prefer looking out of the window & computer to watching the TV.
The highest hungry electric appliance is the kettle here or one cup machine. You would think it was the oven but no. The electric oven is half size. I have a double oven = 2 small size ovens so uses less power with just one in use.
Just going to take the dog walkiesaround the local park.

For various reasons we will be trying hard as a family not to spend on non-essentials over the next few months and will be following the MSE mantra of do I need it or do I just want it.
Freebies and vouchers will stretch the budget and hopefully be a fun element in seeing what we can save.
This morning I picked up an empty choccy packet when we were walking the dogs as I recognised it was one with the code for a free cinema ticket (you need four codes per ticket). Chocs are on offer in some places at £1 per bag so I reckon that's £1 saved and some litter picking done. Have to keep my eyes open for any more:rotfl:
Also got my £1 off Clover in the post and 2 x £4 off Waitrose shops plus 5p a litre off petrol at their petrol station. Dh, DDs and I have also used the free sprite vouchers in the last week and I received £4 in Kellogg's vouchers after complaining about the change to one of their products. Won't be buying that particular product again but vouchers will be used against something else.
I have started a list this month of all the vouchers we use so it'll be interesting to see how they tot up over a few months.
At the weekend a local store was doing a swap and handing out new soaps, toothpaste, hand wash etc in return for an empty container or packet. One per person per visit so Dh and I called in on Sat and Sun as we were passing and got our freebies.0 -
Norabatty - what's LO??? Sorry but just not come across that one before!!
Hi Snowy Owl,
LO is little one, my little girl recently celebrated her first birthday.
Well, on Tuesday night, the in-laws informed us they would be visiting us the following day so I had to do a big shop on Wednesday afterall. I spent £16.54. I also signed up to Dooyoo on Tuesday, I have done 3 reviews and already earned £1.50. I also signed up for the free 4 pack of Coors Light and got DH to do the same. So 8 free bottles of Coors are coming my way. :j Judging by how little and how often I drink alcohol, I reckon this will last me all summer!
DH ringing Sky this evening and threatening to leave. Should be interesting to see how he gets on!Overpay Mortgage by £9,100 in 2013 - £9,316.16/£9,100

I think I'm going to have to count vegetable seeds as 'food' in my rules. I've just taken advantage of a seed sale I spotted on the Greenfingered board. As they will be food, I think they count as food?
Today's other purchases have been henna (for my hair, so toiletries) and a secondhand changing mat.
The other thing I have done this week is make sure all my shoes are mended, polished and well looked after, so they last longer. Something I have been neglectful of in the past.
Oh and yesterday's lunch main comprised of noodles and stir fry sauce samples I was given at the train station. Mixed in with some mushrooms and peppers, it was almost a free lunch!Recovering Shopaholic

Went to work (walked downstairs) came home from work (walked back upstairs)
Spend free day! Living over the shop has it's advantages :j:happylove0 -
I shall run my own mini version of this I think which is more along the lines of either using what I already have, seeking out other sources for items eg freecycle or buying second hand and hopefully report back once a week. It's already becoming a useful resource full of some great tips and suggestions.
I've finally plucked up the courage and entered the mysterious world of blogging this week- not only has it given me an exciting new venture but it's also motivating me to do more things to provide me with ideas of things to write about. So this week, despite being weary, I heaved my carcase out and picked some elderflowers which are now made into the first batch of cordial that I've made for several years.
Other alternatives to buying new have been buying a charity shop blind which, once washed and cut down. can be made into a new blind for our bathroom and I have reminded the small person to dig out a pair of trousers he doesn't wear so that I can cut them down into a pair of shorts for him.
I'd forgotten- I received a tennis racquet from a very kind freecycler earlier this week which means the small person can play tennis for free in the park courts during the summer break.
