    Morning all ;)
I thought I would tell you all my latest money saving antics.
Sometimes I need to override the hot water like last night. To have the water hot for longer when 4 people want a shower/bath.
I have decided to switch the water on and set my timer clock for one hour. When it rings the water heater duly gets switched off. No more forgetting and using electric/gas more than needed.
Maybe I will try 45 minutes next time.
The timer clock is from Asda value range. In white. I gave it a makeover with girly stickers. Pink flowers and stars round the edges.

Need to get my old sewing machine out soon. I have been saving up old cotton clothes to make patchwork. I have just made bags so far but a good idea for something for nothing. The bags are useful for holding collections of things like socks, bracelets, pens.
I had the idea I could use patchwork bags instead of wrapping paper for gift giving? maybe? when I have practiced a bit more :0/

I will not be spending today as if I go out it will be to walk the dog, not feeling too well today.
I will be using the web to look for money off vouchers though for tomorrow's planned food shop.

Just put a new free book on my kindle you all might be interested in?

Another No Spend day planned today:

Tried to get another free latte this morning but Mr T's have stopped accepting the vouchers :( Never mind, have 3 in the fridge for this week already!

Used a code from a MSE member to get 6 months of Now TV for £5 - not counting it as a spend today as the money will take a couple of days to show on my statement! ;) Works out as 83p a month so great value.

Don't think we need any shopping but need to do the meal plan to make sure. Using up some chicken dippers from yesterday in wraps tonight :)

Will try and pick up another couple of free lip balms at lunchtime as the Body Shop lady didn't take them off me last week.

B,L,D and snacks from stores today, except free fruit smoothie from McDonalds via the app and free coffee using MyWaitrose card. We might need to buy milk so hoping they stock the 1% fat stuff that there is a free voucher for in the Weekend paper.

Also printed a Bella Italia voucher for M-I-L to use so saved someone else some money too :)

Think that's everything today folks. Have happy no spend days!

    Hi

It's in the Weekend paper that they give away free in Waitrose - has Alan Titchmarsh on the front I think. Voucher is in the Love Life supplement.

They didn't stock it in our Waitrose so I will have to buy milk tonight, booooo.

Anita55 - to find someone's blog you click on their name [where all their previous posts etc are stored] and then click on visit their home page. I can heartily recommend Ilona's blog [post 31 page 2] for an inspirational thrifty/frugal living blog.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi all,

Here's my weekly update: Friends visited last weekend, we had lots of meals out and a spa treatment so in total, I spent £104. This is pretty much the amount I estimated I would spend and the weekend was arranged before starting the challenge.

The good news is that I got a letter from uni, saying that I got the best results in my year and will be awarded a prize in some fancy ceremony on Friday week! I think the prize is for £100! :j

Still doing really well with the grocery spending - since starting the challenge, I have spent £51.32 on food and still have plenty of meat in the freezer and just stocked up on cereal bars too.

I have no desire whatsoever to buy clothes, which is amazing! I also exchanged a load of clothes DD got for her 1st birthday for ages 2-3 so there is no need to buy her any clothes for the next year. :T
    Overpay Mortgage by £9,100 in 2013 - £9,316.16/£9,100
    Overpay Mortgage by £19,000 in 2014 - £438.72/£19,000

    GC 2014 Feb £120.83/£180 :j Mar £25.47/£140
  • That will require a lot of discipline but I guess if you can do that then you can achieve anything. I am trying to find some discipline myself, it seems to be the only way to survive these days.

Afternoon all :) I did a bit of splashing out today :) I walked downtown and back to save on the £3 bus fare, well it is a nice day!

Just walking around the shops I bought x2 books in WH Smiths sale @ £1 each. Went to pay and the salesperson said I could have a Daily Mail Paper given with my purchase but it is not to be called a freebie? Strange one? but said I would like the paper.

In Boots I parted with 16p & £1 off voucher for a 300ml bottle of Cussons Mum & Me shampoo & conditioner combined.

Walked on to Iceland to use the £3 save this summer coupon and do some grocery shopping. I used the x2 vouchers I had for £1 off Clover. So got x2 500g tubs for FREE.

    I love coupon shopping :)
