I live in West Yorkshire and would be interested in hearing from anyone who has done a spot of picking locally and can recommend a good place to try. I would love to take the kids in the hols -weather permitting of course!!

Don't know where you are prettypennies, but the one I tend to go to is at Norwood green near Wyke on the way to Bradford. PYO are fairly thin on the ground near me and this one is popular so you have to be quick, sorry have no idea what its called:confused: If I remember rightly, last year strawberries were ready for picking late June.

I'm interested to know where I can find a decent PYO place - not a lot of information when I Google. I'm in Wiltshire.

We picked 2 large punnets of raspberries yesterday at a rather run down PYO place - £4.50 seemed a lot but what are others charging I wonder?

As for strawberries, currantly (sorry) there seems to be very little locally. I must be looking in all the wrong places.

I WAS hoping to make some strawberry jam.

    Hi sandieb,

We have a recent thread on pick your own fruit which includes some good links for finding local PYO farms that should help you. I've merged your thread with it as it helps to keep all the replies together.

We used to go to a farm a couple of miles away to pick raspberries and strawberries. When I came back here to live a couple of years ago I found that it has a housing estate on it - the roads have lovely names like Strawberry Fields, but it's not the same as the fruit is it!?

Be careful of the harvest mites if you do go to the farms. They itch like mad and usually find their way to your bra line, knicker line, top of the sock line!

I remember my parents taking us to a pick-your-own strawberry farm when we were kids with the instruction to eat as much as we could before reaching the weighing scales. My little sis, however, could not be put off putting them in her basket, and no amount of cajoling could persuade her to eat any, so mom and dad had to pay for hers lol!

God when I was a kid I needed no instructions on eating them, I remember going strawberry picking in a little german named town in australia and eating lots as we went around :D
