Whats the best payg/sim free for under £300

Options
Im looking to buy a new phone soon as my htc sensation xl is on its lasts legs and i have had enough with this phone and issues! I am happy enough with my rolling sim contract so i really don't want to get another contract and would rather buy the phone outright.

But Im stuck on what would be the best option to buy, with my current phone i like the size of the screen (4'7) so would prefer it to be similar and it also needs to have a good camera as thats important to me. I was thinking about the nexus but from what i have heard it has a not so good camera which puts me off and then there is the s3 which im not so sure on. I'm not sure what other phones are out there so any help would be much appreciated :)

I can safely say that after alot of searching myself (I am currently looking for a new deal and handset) the Google Nexus 4 is the next handset I am going to be getting. I don't know how they can do it for the money (but thank goodness they do).
£280 for the 16 gig version. Bargain when you consider what it has. I has got all the other stuff that many other handsets costing twice the price have. The camera is a good one and it has a 360 degree mode. No other phone has that facility.
Originally I was sold on the Galaxy S3, but a friend of mine recently bought a Nexus 4 and I had a look at it the other week. It really is the business, so when my contract expires in a few weeks I am getting a Nexus 4.

There is the Huawei P1, great spec for the money. You can get the non-Lte version is £175.

Slips effortlessly into the pockets of even the tightest jeans, and won't be a noticeable chunk when it's there. The P1 is only 7.7mm thick, weighs just 110g and a 4.3inch display. Boasting a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and utilizing the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, it's fast and simple to use, and the 8MP camera captures pictures of vivid detail and intense colour. With a 1670mAh battery and high speed data connectivity through 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the Ascend P1 delivers the ultimate in elegance and speed.

After a lot of research on it, S3, s4 and HTC one. I bought the nexus 4 after I lost my Galaxy S 2. Very happy with it. I can say that the camera on it is better than the one on Samsung galaxy s2 and more features. The pictures are crispier and clear.
Go for it. You wound not regret it.

I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T
  • Nexus 4 every day of the week for me. Incredible deal as long as you order direct from Google Play. And you are guaranteed to be on the very latest version of android way before any other phone user.

Thank you all, to anyone that has a nexus could they link me to any photos taken with the phone? I had a play with one in the shop and the pictures on it where not that great (granted its a shop with random people taking pics of themselfs so was never going to be that great).

  • Thank you, i have been reading alot of mixed views on the camera with some saying its decent enough and some saying it utter garbage. I read its really easy to break the phone as well by dropping it (which i have a habbit of). I never thought trying to pick a phone could be so hard!
