I thought house buying stress revolved around packing boxes... How wrong was I!!

  • True indeed.

Contract came yesterday, I've signed and posted today. Still no idea about completion, or exchange. Our solicitor is currently busy topping up his tan whilst I contemplate topping myself lol :)

Dreaming is a pointless exercise if it only serves to reinforce your own limitations.
For my familys sake I no longer dream, I will plan and I will try and if I fail I will try and try again.
Failing is far better than dreaming. :)

Just let it roll, it is the feeling of not knowing and control. At the end of the day the estate agent wants to get house sold for fee, solicitor wants sold so they get their fee. Have typo take it in your stride, I do as it would send you nuts.

The trouble is, the process - and the methods. Your solicitor wants the paperwork from the other side, so instead of picking up the phone, he dictates a letter, that is typed and sent. There goes 2-3 days' delay. Other solicitor receives the request.... and dictates a letter and sends them off... 2-3 days' delay. That's received and sits on a pile until your solicitor's in/available to progress things, so he picks up the papers, flicks through and immediately spots a question, so out comes the dictaphone again.....

My secret to buying/selling is to carry on life as normal and don't even consider the house bought/sold until exchange. Then panic and grab boxes and realise you're unprepared! Only ONE week of stress that way.

    Oh this!!!

Thankfully my conveyancing solicitor and my vendor's solicitor use that new fangled invention called e-mail. But it's still tortuously slow. I have a hell of a story to share, but I'll save it until we've completed in a couple of weeks. Or 4 weeks. Or 3 months.

Wine and G&T and deep breaths.
  • I am intrigued :) ....

We have just found hat contract says leasehold, survey and mortgage off says freehold!!

I've just had offer amended by mortgage advisor.... I'm sure our solicitor is supposed to have picked this up! :)
