  • weekly shop today at Ald*. spent £62.00 was quite pleased as i had made my shopping list and added up prices from previous weeks shop so i knew how much i was hoping to spend. had it priced up at £52.78 and i then calculated an extra ten pound on top of that for things that i had forgotten or hadn't bought before and didn't know the price of, so was very pleased to come in at £62.

    will need to pay a visit to M's on monday to get bread/milk for the rest of the week and pick up anything they have on offer that i want. my kids go back to school on Tuesday so i am hopeful that things might start lasting in here and not disappearing 2 secs after they are opened between my hordes eating them or thinking i can afford to feed the twenty odd kids that usually appear with them.

  • Mrs-s so sorry to hear about your purse. Sending you lots of (((hugs)))

    About ready to travel to holiday for the week, but thought i'd do all my updates incase i lose track. That way i only need to keep receipts from holiday in purse. Anyway;

    Mr T's came to £87.57
    Butchers came to £30.27
    Local shop came to £17.00
    Home B's came to £28.71

    So a massive total of £163.55p!!!!

    I must say tho, this is for 5 people and a dog. Includes lots of alcohol, bbq food, toiletries, loo rolls, cleaning products along with general shopping. The only bonus is whatever is left will be getting brought home to live on. Plus we have very few plans to be eating out while we are away. Maybe the odd bag of chips. But this is to be a very cheap holiday, on the beach, eating picnic and bbq's because we are soo poor at the moment. Wouldn't even be getting a little break if it wasn't for my parents :o

    Anyway.... Will update sig and look forward to reading post and catching up next week. Will try and read post while i'm away to keep me away from the shops! :)

    Well hello everyone, here I am on day one of my very first grocery challenge. There's me, OH and two teenage kids (one of each flavour) and one very lovely moggy. Whilst my OH works for Sainsbury's and he gets 10% staff discount we try to get everything at Aldi and what we can't at Sainsbury's. We have been spending around £170 per week which included everything, toiletries, pet food etc which was fine but I was scheduled for an op in April this year which meant 6 weeks off work unpaid (I'm self employed) which was gonna be fine but the one op turned into 3 and not much hope of going back until next year realistically (doctor's orders) Needless to say, what money we do have we have to look after for emergencies and the food budget has been reduced to £400 4 weeklystarting today
    I spent £49.15 in Sainsbury's and a further £74.31 in Aldi making a total of £123.46 so far but our cupboards, fridges, freezers etc are heaving and we have more than enough in for meals for a fortnight so hoping next weeks spend will be less. I shall update my signature in a mo,

    I'm wondering whether to include the delivery price of my food in this? It's cheaper than getting the bus if I pick the cheapest slot. I'm guessing most of you don't include your fuel costs to and from the supermarket if you have a car?

    I always include the delivery cost, because I have a monthly travel card on the tube for work (I don't drive), and I 'could' just use that or walk back from the supermarket. It's a fixed cost which I use anyway.

    Mrs-s - how horrible! Just have to hope that karma bites that person in their behind in the future...

    Spent £3.29 in Mr S today, and should now hopefully have no more spends on food this week!
