July 2013 Grocery Challenge

Hello all!
Have debated whether to post this month, because things are getting rather out of control...looks like I'm not the only one going over budget though unfortunately.
I lost a few receipts, but all were in Mr S so just checked my online Nectar balance for totals now:o
24th - £2.05 in Mr S
25th - 42p in Costcutter
26th - £3.14 in Mr S
27th - £2.69 in Mr S
27th - £12 on salads from a street market. Pricey yes, lovely yes, but at least they lasted for Saturday dinner when my sister came over to visit (so in a way saving compared to going out), last nights dinner, todays lunch, and todays dinner. So I guess, it all worked out in the end.
Then I *think* around £1 in a couple of random corner shop spends.
Total = £22.30...and am here till the 31st!Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Although technically tomorrow should be my last day on this months challenge, I'm calling it an end today, and starting my next month tomorrow (been away for a long weekend and have to go food shopping to get lunch things. Came in £7 over-budget, not including my meal deals for the train journey (another £10).
Next month I'm going to offer to do the food shopping if my housemates try to arrange any more BBQs!0 -
I can't remember what I've added and what I haven't
Oops! I think we're up to around £96, but I'm not sure if stuff from the week before last got added

Forgot to declare on the 25th - so ended July at £171.59 / £175. First month on the slightly reduced budget and nailed it, even better we have loads in the freezer and cupboards so hopefully August won't be too hard

That frugal ginger beer recipe looks good (and easy too!), have you tried it before?0 -
Today will be the last week of my July Challenge. The cupboards are very bare, but the children have been away at their Dads, and i have been happy to eat whatever i can find in the cupboards.
They are home again tomorrow though, so i need to restock the bare cupboards.
I need to be careful though, as my tax credit claim still hasn't been processed (cant even get through on the phone!) so i am not sure when I will receive anything from them.0
