Spent £8.77 in Asda today on squash, loo roll, sticky tape, ham and cheese. I also got some good YS bargains of a chicken in pepper sauce with asparagus for 30p and a chorizo pasta bake for 30p plus loads of bread (mainly Burgen's poppy seed and Warburtons toasters) for 15p and 10p and put it in the freezer so I will not need any bread for at least three weeks :money:
Our GC ends this weekend and and I will only need milk and fruit so I should be under this month:j

Hope everyone is still enjoying the sun.

    Hi all,

glad to see you're all doing so well - my budget has well and truly gone out of the window - I didn't realise I spent so much. We have finished the month around the £250 mark. Will try again next month x

Can't quite believe it. Weekend is over and yet another NSD! First ever no spend weekend for me! Its amazing what a bit of organisation can do! Feeling rather pleased with myself.

After the middle of the month panic from all the BBQ treats, i've just worked out I have only 8 days to go and i still have nearly £100 left in my budget! I'm seriously considering putting in my 1st approved foods order to get treats in for summer as there is no way i need to do a big shop before payday. Whats peoples opinions of AF?

On another note, lunch today was simply spaghetti hoops on toast (DH on shifts so we will have dinner tomorrow) followed by HM pie, HM cheese scones and HM cupcakes for tea, along with some salad that needed using up and fresh fruit. Supper is the usual cereal for the kids, and toast for me i think.

Tomorrow will be bacon sandwiches for breakfast (cereal for youngest), fishcakes, chips and sweetcorn for lunch and mince and dumpling dinner for tea, which reminds me I need to take the mince out of the freezer! Supper is cereal.

    CP xx

Well I had a truely HORRIBLE dinner and No I didnt cook it. Went to Birmingham for a meal out with DD, my brother, SIL, nephew and his friend.

We went to the Harvester and I ordered a mixed grill with the steak well done, when it came I cut the steak in half and it was bloody, I cut it into several bits thinking the outside bits might be done but No the whole thing was the same, My SILs steak was the same so we sent them back.

When it came back I just couldnt believe it they had grilled it again and it resembled lumps of burnt black charcoal. The rest of the meal was virtually cold although they had cooked a fresh egg, well semi cooked it anyway.

I ate the chicken breast and gamon with a bowl of salad from the salad
    bar.

The waitress was lovely and apologised and said she would inform the chef and when the bill came she said we have not charged for your meal
but really a chef who cannot cook a well done steak and then turns it into charcoal, it was obvious even the waitress agreed it was well and truly burnt .

The bill came to 90,00 with mine deleted for 6 of us and we had in mind to go there for my Birthday meal when there would have been 15 of us, no chance now or ever again . We have now arranged that we will go to weatherspoons for my birthday.

So not planned but a NSD again for me.

I just boil about 1 inch water in small saucepan - add the eggs. Turn down heat to simmer for 3-4 minutes.

    Hi all :)
I've signed up for Aug so will just stalk you here until then. I've done pretty well off the board for the past few months (have been crazy busy so just haven't had time to come on) however the summer holidays are here so I'm back to help stay on track.
    Hope everyone is doing ok?

I've definitely saved money this month doing this challenge, I haven't gone over my £250 and I'm raring to go with the new full month. I'll be sitting down with my receipts from the month tomorrow and having a good look at them. In fact I've got enough left (shock horror for me!) for us all to go out for tea on the last day of school, much to my daughter's delight.

DD and I made flapjacks and a loaf of bread today for the rest of the week. I even made a double amount of chilli and squidged half into my freezer after using up a lot of the ice lollies over the couple of weeks and not instantly replacing them.

We could still do better on the little trips to local Tesco, but I'm happy with my progress.

I can't thank you all enough for the tips and support here, it feels like I am finally getting around to the important things in life instead of just making and spending money.
  • Hello all.

Had a lovely weekend and two meals out (wedding and party) so not too much more food needed.

Spent too much due to a couple of little shops but £1.68 was OH for a quick tea and I spent £4.32 on some much needed deodorant and a couple of bits needed friday, then £19.78 in main shop this weekend which is good but was pretty much only fruit, milk and bread!

Not much left for our last weekly shop next weekend but will keep spends as low as poss!
