We've had some lovely meals this week. We've only just moved in this house (saturday) and I have way more room to prepare food that before. It's been too warm to cook proper dinners so I've made HM coleslaw, HM potato salad (my not so secret ingredient is diced gherkins!) and I even attempted HM onion rings this week. I used a recipe online and I think I will adapt it a bit as the batter was more like pancake batter. We've got lots of coleslaw and pot salad left so I will serve that with dinner again tonight. Really need to pull back on spending next month. Got to fork out for a new bed so that's got to come from somewhere. Have got to start the August challenge properly and budget myself in cash I think. If I haven't got it, I can't spend it right? x
Goals: Save £500 for emergencies, Save £200 of Amazon vouchers for Xmas, fix my holey clothes!

Well managed to get this weeks shopping in for under £20 again
Spent £15.84 in MrT and I need to get a CYO pizza from MrA for Saturday nights dinner ...
It should see me through until next Friday but with kids on holiday I might need a top up later in the week, even though the boys are at my mums while I'm at work, I just seem to end up with everyone else's kids for dinner and snacks.

Spend of £1.77 today. £1 for milk + 45p Plain Flour + 32p tin of peach slices.
I have a bag of plain flour but want to have one in the freezer ready - like it to be in there at least 72 hours. I don't want bugs in my new kitchen.
After the flour comes out of the freezer - in there inside a poly bag - I let it come back up to temperature before storing in a container. I have some big glass containers that I bought - many years ago - for pennies.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Oh dear!
Stuggling to stay under this month...
£12.33 spent in Mr S since my last post.
Fancied sausage baps with sauerkraut yesterday, so bought Quorn ones on offer. Goodness me they were BLEUGH! Much prefer the Linda McCartney variety! Have another pack to use though (buy 2 packs for £3), so will use it up ASAP on some sort of pasta dish so the sauce makes up for the blandness. Honestly - I may as well just had a sauerkraut and mustard sandwich! :rotfl:
Still have all the turkey and chicken pieces bought from my Mr T in the freezer, so I guess over time, it will even out. Keep getting some tempting money off vouchers from Mr T though so need to resist!
Hope everyone is enjoying the sunGrocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

I got baking equipment at jumble sales/boot fairs - some of it was past it's best but with a good clean - it did the job. There were cookery shows on TV and I got cook books from the same place as the baking stuff.
I always find it really interesting to see how other people do get by on a budget. If I had to, I could make all sorts of savings, but thankfully I'm in a position where I don't need to! Although I'm not restaurant quality (and not even close) I hate watching chefs try 'budget' - they don't use ingredients I would class as budget and/or they usually substitute something home grown, which isn't always practical for the rest of us!0 -

More spends today £13.51 but with coupon off and price match promise paid £12.38 Have £66.60 till end of month so not too bad.
For tea we were going to have Hairy bikers meat balls & tomato sauce but too hot so ended up with a gammon joint and salad. Very nice it was too.
Florenceem - I also married young 17 and a week, we lasted 12 years but then split. I could not cook when I got married but you had to learn didn't you and make do. I remember his wages been £15 and we struggled but had to get on with it. How times change. The first time I made dumplings I didn't know they swelled up so made them fairly large, what a mess when they all lumped together in the panMade one or two bad mistakes along the way but all part of learning.
