Make an inventory of what you have in and what you like, then base your shopping around what is needed . Or some people base theirs around YS spends/offers. I use a mix of the two plus what needs using up first.

NSD for me today ... first one. Aiming for at least ten, which is my usual.

I'll be raiding my freezer and cupboards tonight and making a list and then putting my thinking cap on!!!

I'm having OH leftover dinner for lunch tomorrow and freezing the rest of the kids dinner to go on a jacket spud on thursday :D

If you look on the meal plan threads and the beginning of the challenge, there are lots of meal ideas. There's also lots of sites on the same theme, https://www.cheapfamilymeals.org is one off the top of my head.

I think I may need to join again this month. We are now a one income family. Budget for the month is £350 - we are going to try and use monthly tax credits for food, petrol, treats etc.

So this months budget so far.
    Asda £11.20
    Morrisons £16.90
    Iceland £10

That includes baby wipes and baby formula.

    £38.10/£350

Re planning dinners - I don't have a problem writing out a menu and then sticking to it. I get to have a lovely dinner each day - know what went in it - little cost to make meal - never resort to TA.
I think I am just so used to being OS - just comes naturally to me.
MR F is such a sweetie - never complains about what he is fed - in fact I get compliments every meal.
Dinner was - LO jacket potatoes roasted off in chunks with LO roasted veggies + HM quiche. Mr F said - delicious.

Need to add £9 to signature - spent in Sainsbury's today plus £5 of Nectar points. No impulse buys - got to be a first for me - the extra was on things added to my list after my last post.
It is my turn for the school cake raffle this Friday. I would like to make Rocky Road and cut them into bites like those tubs from M & S but need to think of something more frugal. Maybe lemon drizzle cake as I have some lemons?

No spends today, had homemade veggie fajitas with HM wraps, cheese, all the 'trimmings'. Didn't bother to take a pic as was starving and anyway I make veggie fajitas all the time lol.

    I've been Money Tipped!
NSD for me yesterday :D I did go out for lunch but this was a planned meal and I had kept the money back for it. I didn't buy any extras so all is good.

No chance of a NSD for me today. Need to pop to Iceland for bread x2 and milk x2. Lets hope i don't buy anything else on impulse! Also popping into home bargains for 3 tins of peas and a bag of sugar which i forgot to pick up at the weekend. I'm going in the shops with blinkers on and will NOT be swayed by any of the special offers!!

Our main meal today will be chicken dinner when the kids get in from school. I'm soo looking forward to it already!! Any left overs (if there is any) will be put in a dish to do DH a fry up tomorrow. I always throw it out but i figure DH always says i should keep it for fry up so thats what i'm gonna do! :D Got no deserts in, so if i have a chance i'm gonna make a sponge cake. Got plenty of custard to go with it! Determined not to pick up a frozen desert in iceland.

Will be aback to update later and let you all know how i get on.... Wish me luck! :D

    Have a good day! :D

I always cook a few extra potatoes when I do a dinner like that so I can use them next day. I usually keep boiled potatoes and do a potato salad for the next days dinner and roasties are sliced up and refried to make some bubble and squeak!. If you end up with left over chicken, you could even use it for sandwich fillers the next day. :)

Good luck with shopping later! x x

Goals: Save £500 for emergencies, Save £200 of Amazon vouchers for Xmas, fix my holey clothes!
