Aww don't worry SS - you *will* move out when the time is right.

When you pay off your debts, the housing market might have crashed anyway and you can pick up a place for a bargain! ;)

Or I'll be even further priced out of the market! :rotfl:

    Ummm, maybe! But maybe not.

You'll find a way. There may be more shared ownerships schemes around in the future too.

  • Hi SS, I've been a lurker on this site since before Christmas but don't usually post but your post struck a chord with me.

I moved back with my parents about a year ago to try and pay off my student debts and save a deposit & sometimes all I can think about is owning my own place. I don't want to be one of them weird people that stay living with their parents forever. But living at home was the only sensible option to enable me to pay my debts (which are now all gone- woo hoo me!!) quickly and save a deposit. I guess I just count myself lucky that I had that option & that I get on with my folks.

Just keep going and you'll get there eventually. Its good to have a goal.

I wish I was living at my parents. There are no nagging wives or screaming kids there. Fancy a swap, SS?

Good for you that you didn't let pride, social standing etc stand in the way of you moving back home. There's no point in paying an extortionate rent or mortgage if a couple of years back at home can help you get your debts sorted out quicker (congrats on getting them paid off, by the way :) ). Many of us don't have that option, but some do yet still won't because they 'need their space' or feel they're too old to be back at home. :)

Actually mate, we had a house in 1998 and sold it 3 years later for handsome profit (which paid off the consolidation loan!). If it weren't for Married Quarters, I do wonder where I/We would be living!
