Landlord entering your property whilst you are in bed

I do agree with comments relating to me classing it as "only" and im aware I am in debt by 1 month arrears of rent, however, I have not ignored the LL, and have responded to calls and texts (the LL this time being the wife), however, she has obviously asked her husband to come to the property as a scare tactic, which is totally against the law as is harassment and trespassing.
I have contacted the local council private housing officer who has said this is a serious allegation and will be looked in to immediately.
Whilst they are currently 1 month out of pocket, they may find themselves thousands of pounds out of pocket if I proceed to sue for this and find myself elsewhere to live. Best of luck, I have the proof as the text messages exchanged since the event all admit to the entering of my property, and the text messages are not pretty either.0 -
Given you can't afford to pay 1 months rent, I wouldn't be too worried about you I initiating legal proceedings if I was the landlord.

I would agree with you if this was an ordinary case, for example a few days ago where the tenant was upset she was being harassed because the landlord knocked on the door asking about arrears however actually entering the property without permission and demanding that the tenant get out of bed is just so far over the line that whether or not the tenant is the worst or best is irrelevant.0 -

What do you mean not pretty either? It's important as to what they say. For example them saying: you are one month behind and we wanted a chat, but handled it badly - is not great for them, but it could be worse if they said: your behind on your rent and we'll be changing the locks the minute your out the house.0 -
Assuming it is a Eurolock - keep the key in when you are in the house and make sure it is not vertical in the lock. Turn it slightly and a key on the outside will not work.0

Surely there is something else to this than a few text amicable exchanges to the landlord suddenly entering you house late at night?
They simply can't enter you house like you have explained but is there anything else that caused them to enter? Missing one month out of three is not the end of the world, so I can't see this kind of action being taken like it is being explained..0 -
It's simple, the reason is, the landlord is an idiot and doesnt know the law!0

I too find it strange the Op has not given further info despite requests, eg regarding what the chat consisted of and what texts etc have subesequently been exchanged.
However, there are two simple issues:
1) Arrears. You are in the wrong. Pay them off, and keep your rent up to date.
2) Landlord's access. Out of order. Do 2 things:
a) change the lock. If a Yale type latch lock, see here (skip the ad). Takes 5 minutes and costs £5. (if mortice, costs a bit more but just as easy. Google utube)
b) Write to the LL (yes, a formal letter! To the address provided "for the serving of notices"), explaing you were shocked and insisting that in future he give you 48 hours written notice of any required access, and you will then either agree or re-schedule if it is inconvenient.0 -
