I think this thread has gone a bit deep for me to be honest i just would like to have known what the procedure would be. Depending on how much it would cost there are still plenty of ifs and buts and probably only has a 20% chance of actually happening. I thought the reason behind these forums was to ask questions from people who may know and be able to help point us in the right direction and to forwarn of any problems that would need to be known about.

I understand that some people may not agree with what i am doing but there are things in life that i dont agree with, but that doesnt mean i shoot people down and there ideas.

I believe my aunt will struggle in a council house on her own even to just pay the bills and to eat and look after herself. Its not a mtter that she cannot look after herself as she is more than capable and turns her hand to just about anything. Its just the financial side that she wont be able to manage.

I would love to be able to have kids but at the minute we dont know if we can but if we do wouldnt this be a great opportunity to help them get a good start in life which to be fair is all anyone wants for there children.

Thanks for all your views and comments.

Just wanted to know if there was a website or anyone knew if this happened or that happened this would be the outcome that sort of thing.

Like i said i might not happen but its nice just to get an insight if other people had done similar.

Everytime i turn the tv on there is a house program or a diy program telling people how to make money or how to spend money on there home or rented homes, i work hard like many people to earn what i have and maybe i am lucky but if i get a chance in life i would like to think i have thought long and hard about it as in years to come i might luck back and regret it.

Dave, this info on the Hull Council website might be of help. If you're in another council area their info will be very similar. Hope this helps.

Just curious, but you say you doubt your aunt would manage financially once your gran has gone. What would you do with your aunt after that then?

You're welcome - ERC shouldn't be too different to Hull. Good luck.

if granny or auntie own it (even if it's only in name) then have to go into a care home it can be sold from under them to pay for it, leaving you with no investment.

The RTB scheme may not be morally right, but people are quite legally entitled to do it, so I don't think it's right to slate the OP as though it's his personal fault people can't get council houses.

Margaret Thatcher thought the RTB was a good scheme because she didn't want to have any council/social housing. That's why the RTB scheme was introduced.

Thank you 7dayweekend, i did feel as though people were having a go but i respect people and their views and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Will start to get in touch this week and ring the council and see what the procedures are and how this may affect my family.

    Regards

    Dave
