If he has been employed he should at least have a PAYE tax code letter from HMRC.

    If he has been employed

Hi, my partner wants to open a bank account, he has always just used his dad's for his wages to go into

He appears to have been (and indeed still is) employed.

I seem to remember that originally the OP said that his wage slips showed his father's address.

Yes I saw that. I chose my word badly. I should have written "As" not "If".

Yes and he is on the electoral roll at his father's address. Thus if he could open an account using his father's address he could "move" later.

Yeah he should be able to open one online at his fathers address without ID.
  • Just wanted to update you all...somehow...god only knows why. The Bank of Scotland have given him an account with a visa debit card. His dad and stepmum went with him as witnesses/guarantors of some kind to vouch for him and he had to have an interview as he has no ID...but got there eventually!

KYC / Due Diligence at BoS sounds a bit slack if all you need is an interview.

Know where my money laundering operations will go through (joke!).

Someone mentioned being on the electoral role, but there is no need for that nor being known to CRA agencies, if he just wants to open a basic bank account.

He would need some form of bill addressed to him, and unfortunately some ID though this doesn't always have to be a passport, or driving licence.

Alternatively there are a number of pre-paid credit cards that act like bank accounts. They don't need ID, though beware that many of them charge up to £15 a month.
