Have you used your card anywhere else?

They need to have a successful Chip & Pin transaction before you can use the contactless facility.

I did occur to me in the 'sensible' part of my mind I might need to do a PIN transaction first but I'm not exactly bright ;)
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

Can you opt out of it and ask for it not to be activated or something?

What you could do is call and write to them stating that you do not intend using your card in a contactless environment. If a transaction is detected using this method of payment it should be considered fraudulent.

I did it with Barclaycard. Worked for me.

    Good luck.
