Contactless Credit Card from Cap One

i had one in my wallet when i have got on the bus / train / dlr a few times and forgotten to take my oyster out and just touched the wallet,
even though both were in the wallet it took payment from the monthly travelcard on my oyster only.
this is being blown out of proportion by the media i think0 -
You obviously haven't actually read or understood any of my posts then. In one of them I even mention the risk involved in carrying cash. There is also no method of carrying/making payment that is risk free and nothing that any of us could tell GusGorman that will change his mind
Quoting myself... "If you want to use the convenience of cash, then you accept the risks".0 -
There seems to be an assumption in this thread that people don't like contactless purely because of the bad press. In my experience this isn't true at all. Most people who I know hated it as soon as they understood how the system worked.
People are not all stupid. They can evaluate something for themselves without having to rely on some hyped up media story.0 -
I received a new Capital One card with contactless - which I did not ask for and did not want.
They phoned me today and effectively, their reply was "tough" - I'm stuck with it.
Actually, I will be looking for alternatives.
If I wanted contactless, I would ask for it. I didn't. I don't.0 -
I have 4 contactless cards in my wallet, I just take out the one I want to use. I am intrigued to try waving my wallet over the reader to see if there's a preference now though lol.0

mastercard (hsbc) tried this out quite a long time ago.
It was the reason why I stopped using the hsbc mastercard.
It used to interfere with my oyster card and always cause delays, each and every time the gates with beep to say "card error", and then retry and then let me through the second time.
I can imagine all sorts of problems taking place with contactless. You have a balance transfer card and a 0% purchases card. You want all purchases to go to the 0% purchases card, but then goes onto the 0% balance transfer card or card with £0 balance and pushes it to overdraft - ending up costing your on OD fees or interest on a card that's supposed to be 0%.0 -
I received a Capital One MasterCard Wavepay credit card the other day and wanted to try it out in Boots to see what the fuss was all about.
The fact it read my card then kept saying 'Contactless Fail' says it all! It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

Have you used your card anywhere else?
They need to have a successful Chip & Pin transaction before you can use the contactless facility.0 -
Do you still get the C1 1% bonus with contactless?0

Actually, I have 3 Contactless cards, and have tried in vain to find which one is the default in over 100 swipe presentations.
The bottom line is if you have multiple cards, they ALL interfere with each other ensuring the reader cannot discern a single card to use. Even my travel card becomes unreadable when next to my visa.
There appears to be safety in numbers, so no need for RF 'shield' wallets or envelopes either!0
