These boards are mainly used for normal people asking for advice, and nice people offering advice to the best of their ability.
Sometimes you might not agree with the advice given, or the advice given might be wrong, but surely there are nice ways to point this out?
Some people just do a quote of what you said, and put a really !!!!!! sarcastic comment.
It really annoys me.
There is no need for it. These people must be real grumpy bitter people, with nothing better to do.
I always try to be nice, even if I disagree with something. And I would never try to 'shoot' someone down over a comment they have made.
It really not necessary.

So true - but the same anonymity enables people to ask the most stupid questions which could have been answered by ten seconds use of Google or by doing a search on this site and looking at the dozens of previous answers to the same question........;)0 -

I see it as chitchat similar to when you're at work. So people feel happy to drop a "stupid" question into the "conversation" - in my last job I lost count of how many people would join in and give their opinion or advice about a non-work question while sitting in front of google (which we used for work all the time) which would have given them the answer!
Especially if they had no personal knowledge or experience of the question but "my auntie's neighbour's sister had this and..."0 -

I think the tone of the replies are often tailored to what is actually written in the OP.
For example, if you get a post with 'rip-off', 'con' or 'scam' in the title you can bet there has been nothing of the sort.
The post may rant about how they bought something from a shop and when they got it home they didn't like the colour.
And they go on to insult the poor shop assistant who told them they couldn't have a refund.
Or those EHIC threads where people insist they've been ripped off when the website clearly says that the card can be obtained free from the official website.
And they then run round like headless chickens ranting about cancelling bank or credit cards when the website has clear details about getting a refund.
And it's everybody else's fault but not theirs.
If I see a post on here or the Consumer Rights board that says 'I've made a mistake, can anybody help?' they get a totally different response to one that says 'scumbag shop assistant won't give me a refund and I know I'm entitled to one'. They'll probably get a response like 'no, you're not entitled to one, stupid'.0 -

They have small minds and even smaller lives.
